CountBassula Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 So I went to a canal near my house, the one I usually fish, but this time two things were different: 1) I went later in the afternoon, from 6 to 7:30pm. 2) I ventured past some properties I never went by before, where the canal opened up and banks had more structure. Attached are the pics of today's hunt! I haven't had this much fun bass fishing in a long while! And all of it within 150 yards of my new house :-D I think I have a new honey hole! Few fish I pulled, though they may not look it from the pics were in the 3lbs range I believe, and they put up a great fight! One went around a sunken log, and I thought I was going to have to cut my line, but after a minute of finessing the line and the fish I pulled it out! It was one of the larger ones! OMG i'm pumped!!! Pulled 8 bass in an hour of fishing! Enjoy the pics! M. Quote
Super User Darren. Posted March 24, 2013 Super User Posted March 24, 2013 I believe there's a rule against taunting colder weather fishermen with phrases like "the bite was on fire today", "I got a killer tan while catching a ton of bass today" and such. LOL. Way to catch 'em. 1 Quote

But today was one of the best days I ever had in the 6 years that I lived in S.FL. :-) I think I know why they call it the fishing capitol of the world, and I realize how lucky I am that I can go fishing EVERY day of the year! Man what a day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My heart is still racing!!!!!!!!!! Quote

CountBassula Posted March 24, 2013 Author Posted March 24, 2013 S'pose I'd be a little bit fish-happy if I lived in S. FL, too. Best day in six years!? Then definitely worth shouting about!! Many more days like today for ya! Thanks! Now keep in mind that I've only been seriously bass fishing for the last 4-6 months! I've done some ocean fishing, but I don't want to spoil this website with pictures of black tip, nurse, and bonet head shark pictures :-) See, my brother from NJ who's really into Bass fishing visited me last summer and spent 2 months here, we went fishing a lot but mostly ocean fishing. Since he left, I slowly started going fishing on the canals, and it's only been since I caught my personal best by pure accident on a walmart $16 rod combo special (in my profile pic) six months ago that I really got hooked on Bass fishing down here! Since then I purchased 4 bass rods, million lures, etc! now I go every other day, either after work, or on a weekends. It's just so easy here to be a bass fisherman :-P Anyways, that's why I said it was one of my best days since moving here! Few great days I had, in no particular order: taking out my brother and my 4-yo boy to the Keys shark fishing from the beach, we caught 5 or 6 sharks and 4 barracudas in few hours; going out to the everglades swamps with LgMouthGambler few months ago where we caught 20-30 bass in one evening, and TODAY! Today I was all by myself and I didn't expect to catch much. The canal I fished usually didn't produce much, but as i said, today I ventured where no bass fisherman has ventured before... past few almost impenetrable propertie edges (where grass lawn was at a 30 degree slope and I had 2 ft of clearance between the fence and the canal). But I was brave, I pressed on, and it paid off!!! Now as it turns out, my wife's good friend lives in a house right on that canal, so I'm going to ask her if I can walk across her property next time and save myself the trouble of having to walk extra few hundred yards around the canal's edge :-) Quote
