Super User retiredbosn Posted March 24, 2013 Super User Posted March 24, 2013 I guess the surgeon and insurance company are finally on the same page. Going in for hopefully my last spine surgery on the 17th of April. Removing bone spurs, partial lamenotomy, and putting in 2 rods, this is to repair a previous fusion that is loosening up. Good news is I get to fish part of the spawn and will be recovered for fall fishing. OMgosh, so according to the insurance office the doctor has not even requested for approval for the surgery on the 17th. I was supposed to go to get my pre-op tests done on Monday. Considering their track record with this I called to make sure the surgery was still on, they told me that the surgery wasn't approved. That they would get in contact with my insurance and get everything worked out. Long story short they have not done anything and now who knows what's going to happen. UGGH so frustrating. Quote

Global Moderator Mike L Posted March 30, 2013 Global Moderator Posted March 30, 2013 I know how you feel brother... I had L4 and L5 fushion with a Laminectomy on Dec 19th and 3 months later I feel great! No more walking around like a ? I also have 2 pins and 4 screws with the minerals of a crushed cadaver bone in there. Getting off the pain meds was one of the hardest things I ever did. The only advise I can give you is NO BENDING, NO TWISTING OR LIFT ANYTHING...and try to walk as much as you can when you're able. All the best Mike Quote
Super User retiredbosn Posted April 2, 2013 Author Super User Posted April 2, 2013 Today was supposed to be pre-op day, it wasn't. I have no idea what's going on! Please pray that this gets resolved, I'm miserable. Quote

Super User retiredbosn Posted April 4, 2013 Author Super User Posted April 4, 2013 OMgosh, I don't even know where to start. I call both the doc and the insurance today the doc says the insurance didn't approve, insurance says they've not heard from the doctor's office. So according to the insurance office the doctor has not even requested for approval for the surgery on the 17th and they have no record of the doctor's office even calling or submitting anything since February, the doc's office told me they re-submitted the paperwork in March. I was supposed to go to get my pre-op tests done on Monday, and considering their track record with this I called to make sure the surgery was still on, they told me that the surgery wasn't approved. That they would get in contact with my insurance and get everything worked out. So someone is lying the insurance company or the doctor, the question is who is it???? Quote
Super User Teal Posted April 4, 2013 Super User Posted April 4, 2013 That is horrible. Sorry to hear that. Your are right. Someone is lying. Suggestion, go to doctors office, speak to said doctor and you guys call insurance co and put on speaker. Figure out who is the lier and the solution. If hes not willing to do that, hes probably full of crap. Good luck Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted April 4, 2013 Super User Posted April 4, 2013 I wouldn't accuse any one of lying, but I would say there is a lack of communication some place. Insurance companies due a lot of processing and Doctors handle a lot of patients, mistakes do happen. I have my own surgery planned in about 10 days, thought everything was ok, only to get a phone call saying it wasn't. Luckily the Dr's office cleared up the matter with a phone call to the insurance company, I then verified with both parties. Quote
Oldplug Posted April 4, 2013 Posted April 4, 2013 You might be up and around sooner than you think. I have had 5 major surgeries two that were life threatening. . You can sometimes make your body heal faster by pushing your exercises a bit. I think your going to be in a cast or awhile. Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted April 5, 2013 Super User Posted April 5, 2013 I wouldn't accuse anyone of lying either. Most likely your paperwork got put in the wrong stack, and whoever did it assumed that it was already taken care of. Quote
