Trailer Posted March 23, 2013 Posted March 23, 2013 I've been seeing a banner at the top for a free spool of Tuf-line braid. Has anyone followed through? 100 yards for $4.99 sounds good. 6-8 weeks for delivery. Quote
Super User iabass8 Posted March 23, 2013 Super User Posted March 23, 2013 A lot of people on here have. It's getting great reviews so far. Quote
Super User new2BC4bass Posted March 23, 2013 Super User Posted March 23, 2013 Got mine, but it is too cold for this old guy to think about using it for a few more weeks. Look through the last few pages on this forum, and you will find at least 2 threads reviewing this line. All reviews agree the line is looking pretty good. Quote
fl_bass Posted March 23, 2013 Posted March 23, 2013 I got mine took about three weeks to get it. Need to spool it up on my spinning rod. Can I order another one for the bait caster? Quote
upnorthbassin Posted March 23, 2013 Posted March 23, 2013 I got mine a few weeks after I ordered. It's very slick and has a type of coating or casing on/in it. I haven't used it much but it's worth trying. It is thicker in diameter than a lot of braided line so take that into consideration. Quote
plumworm Posted March 23, 2013 Posted March 23, 2013 I got mine in a week, looks good but 18" of ice has sort of made it difficult to try. Quote
bassh8er Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 I don't think it took more than 2 weeks to get mine in the mail. Quote
Super User Darren. Posted March 24, 2013 Super User Posted March 24, 2013 I got mine. Lost track of how long it took, to be honest. Have yet to spool it up, but I've got one of my spare Stradic spools ready for it (the 12 lb test). Quote
Crappiebasser Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 I got mine in a week and have fished it about 3 trips so far. It is much quieter than Power Pro and seems to cast well. It does have some memory but its worth the $4.99. Quote
Capt.Bob Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 had my order in the 3rd still waiting, but sounds like I should be happy with it when it comes. Quote
Crookedneck Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 I got mine a couple weeks after I put my order in. It is sitting next to all my other gear waiting for the ice to melt....Not coming fast enough. Quote
Super User new2BC4bass Posted March 24, 2013 Super User Posted March 24, 2013 I got mine took about three weeks to get it. Need to spool it up on my spinning rod. Can I order another one for the bait caster? FAIK it is suppose to be one spool per address. However, can't hurt to try. I ordered the 12# for my daughter and had it sent to her place, but paid with same card I paid for mine (I got the 20#). Mine took about 3 weeks to be delivered. Going on 2 weeks for the line being shipped to my daughter & nothing delivered yet. Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted March 24, 2013 Super User Posted March 24, 2013 I've been using the 20 and 12lb both on spinning gear for about 2 weeks. I'm using it only for a couple of different situations and it has performed fine so far. Quote
Super User Sam Posted March 24, 2013 Super User Posted March 24, 2013 Yep. Will be using it on Buggs Island in the near future. Quote
Trailer Posted March 24, 2013 Author Posted March 24, 2013 Sam, you and SirSnookalot are either night owls or extreme early birds! LOL Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted March 25, 2013 Super User Posted March 25, 2013 Sam, you and SirSnookalot are either night owls or extreme early birds! LOL Hell I've been up for nearly 3 hours, Quote
Super User new2BC4bass Posted March 25, 2013 Super User Posted March 25, 2013 Hell I've been up for nearly 3 hours, You are getting up about the time I go to bed. One of us is a little mixed up. Quote
Siebert Outdoors Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 Mine should be coming in any day. I can not wait. Temps are to get better this week and hopefully the snow is gone. If I get it this week I'll test it out this weekend. Quote
joetomlee Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 Thanks for the heads up on this. I am so used to completely ignoring ads that I never even noticed it before. Just placed an order! Quote
Super User Darren. Posted March 25, 2013 Super User Posted March 25, 2013 I finally spooled my 12lb test on one of my unused Stradic 1000FI spools. Took it out this afternoon for some casting and testing. Guys, I have to be honest, and I'm hesitant to write this given all the praise so far. I am not all that impressed with line. I know this may sound sacrilegious but it feels like Fireline to me, lays poorly on the spool. Yes, I know how to spool new line on my reel. I put on a heavy weight, cast it out and tightly wound it back. A little better, but not much. Never experienced this with regular PP. Perhaps if I downsized to 10lb it would be better. Of course I'm used to 10lb PP which is 2lb diameter, so that could be playing part here. A positive is that it is very quiet...but that's the only one I've found so far. I'll give it more time, but so far, I'm a little bummed I don't like it more. I really want to. Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted March 26, 2013 Super User Posted March 26, 2013 To be fair I don't think a review can be given on any product with minimal amount of use, except if one had a nightmare. I've been using 2 sizes almost everyday for the last few weeks, I agree with Darren that it looks to be not spooled uneven on the reel, but it functions just fine. I have quite a bit of dust settled on this line experiment, I know pretty much where I stand on it. I'm not going to praise or condemn, I'm just an amateur. Quote
Super User South FLA Posted March 26, 2013 Super User Posted March 26, 2013 Ordered mine a couple of weeks ago and I am awaiting arrival, not sure what outfit I will put it on though. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted March 26, 2013 Super User Posted March 26, 2013 Ordered mine a couple of weeks ago and I am awaiting arrival, not sure what outfit I will put it on though. Think of it in terms of replacing monofilament or copolymer. The line is slick. Quote
