Tucson Posted April 22, 2010 Posted April 22, 2010 I've been using Zoom U-tail worms for a while and recently picked up some Zoom Trick worms. I'd like some input from others who use these worms regarding rigging, retrieving etc. Appreciate any input. Quote
Skeet22 Posted April 22, 2010 Posted April 22, 2010 Wacky rigged on a finesse hook with a nail weight opposite of the tail end. Same with the finesse worm. Quote
Super User K_Mac Posted April 22, 2010 Super User Posted April 22, 2010 I use them most often on a shakeyhead jig. Wacky rigged, and T rigged-with or without weight, are other options. One of my favorite plastics. Quote
aarogb Posted April 23, 2010 Posted April 23, 2010 A Zoom Trick worm has got to be one of the most popular and productive worms of all time. My favorite rigging methods are wacky style and Texas rigged. Quote
Brian4618 Posted April 23, 2010 Posted April 23, 2010 I like to rig it with a light wire offset worm hook, make sure you skin the hook point to make it weedless. I like fishing them around wood cover and lily pads. The technique that has been best for me is 2 small twitches (youll see when you get out how sensitive the worm is to rod movement so you only need a tiny twitch) and let it fall like a wacky rig. If the fish are more aggressive I like to twitch it all the way back in just below the surface. Hope this helps, Brian. Quote
Super User SoFlaBassAddict Posted April 23, 2010 Super User Posted April 23, 2010 Great worm. Can be used for tons of stuff. I've had lots of success flick shaking them recently. Not a bad drop shot lure as well if you want something a little larger. Quote
Super User Big Bait Fishing Posted April 23, 2010 Super User Posted April 23, 2010 i like to throw them over emerging grass weightless , they have alot of action when twitched fast on a steady retrieve !!! Quote
LAO162 Posted April 23, 2010 Posted April 23, 2010 I use them mostly in floating worm situations, but would use them for just about anything. Leon Quote
bassin is addicting Posted April 23, 2010 Posted April 23, 2010 i like it texas rigged weightless......twitch it....let it fall... amazing action.. also wacky rigged is real good... you can rig'em any way and they work Quote
Sweetwater creek Posted April 26, 2010 Posted April 26, 2010 And the new magnum trick worm is also the bomb. Quote
Super User Crestliner2008 Posted April 27, 2010 Super User Posted April 27, 2010 I'd guess that the Zoom Trick Worm will go down in history right next to Mann's Jelly Worm in fish catching ability. Texas rig, wacky, drop shot, shakey head.....no wrong way to play with this deadly piece of plastic. Quote
Georgia Jeff Posted April 27, 2010 Posted April 27, 2010 I fish them around shallow cover by rigging them weightless on a 3/0 ewg hook. I throw it near cover twitch it to the side lightly two or three times and let it sink for a few seconds then repeat. Then reel it in. When you twitch the rod to the side they will slither through the water like a snake---awesome action. I also fish them weighted just like I would a regular weightless worm. They dart up and down when you twitch the rod. Like the other guys said, you really can't fish them incorrectly. If I only had one bait to fish it would be a Zoom trick worm. Quote
kikstand454 Posted April 27, 2010 Posted April 27, 2010 i too would probably pick a trick worm if i only had one lure. i use a black or watermelon/red flake trick worm constantly. great rigging tips here and id like to add that i cant beleive that noone mentioned carolina rigging it. it is perfect for it. very productive. i think the best advice was.... get it wet. GatorBait Posted April 27, 2010 Posted April 27, 2010 I generally pitch and flip trick worms around pads and kissimme grass with great success. I generally use a 3/16 to 3/4 ounce weight depending on conditions. I found the less i work the bait the more effectively the bait is presented. Carolina rigging is also very effective in clearer water situations for me. Quote
