Jake P Posted March 21, 2013 Posted March 21, 2013 Had an I-N-T-E-N-S-E!!!!!!!!!!!! Pain in my left kidney today that put me on one knee whining like my 3 year old when I tell him its bedtime. If you haven't had this before, I *** you. My Co worker took me to the hospital because at the time, I didn't know what it was. I didn't think kidney stones would hurt that bad so I thought something else was wrong. After waiting in the lobby hunched over in agony for 40 minutes, a scan confirmed the stone. Now I am on the couch with hydrocodone hoping it will pass quickly. One question to my brothers who truly feel my pain. Does it hurt coming out? 1-10 scale? The kidney pain I felt was an absolute 10. wnybassman Posted March 21, 2013 Posted March 21, 2013 It is amazing how something so small can cause such great pain. When mine was moving from my kidney to my bladder I thought I was dying. X rays confirmed the stone, and a relatively small one at that. I don't remember the size they said it was. From that time it took about a week to pass, and when that occurred it tickled more than anything. Tough to explain, but I didn't experience any pain passing it. My trophy.......... Quote
Super User BrianinMD Posted March 21, 2013 Super User Posted March 21, 2013 I feel your pain, had one in end of last year. I have had shingles, diverticulitis, broken bones, and nothing even came close to this. Hope everything passes quick. I cannot answer your question, mine got stuck so I had surgical removal. Quote
Super User Oregon Native Posted March 21, 2013 Super User Posted March 21, 2013 I had a small one once. Was a bit painfull over the toilet and then there was a "tink" sound as it hit the back of toilet. Looked and looked for it but couldn't find it!! Wish ya luck. Quote
Super User deaknh03 Posted March 21, 2013 Super User Posted March 21, 2013 I passed #16 last weekend. I found the jump method 2 years ago and I use it every time now. Google jump method for kidney stones and try it, it works and fast! Quote
Jake P Posted March 21, 2013 Author Posted March 21, 2013 When it started from my kidney, the pain was so intense I threw up for a solid 10 minutes. Will that level of pain return? Or is the worst part over? I feel nothing right now basically. I'm not sure where its at in my body, but I think close to my bladder now. Wondering why I feel nothing painful right now if I haven't passed it? Quote
Super User MCS Posted March 21, 2013 Super User Posted March 21, 2013 With mine, if I drank fluids I was pain free for the most part, it was when the well went dry it started bouncing around hurting things. It all depends on size with passing them, my experience was similar to Oregon Natives, which is not the worst of the passing experiences from what I hear but still fun. Good luck, God Bless. Quote
Super User BrianinMD Posted March 21, 2013 Super User Posted March 21, 2013 The intense pain is from your kidney's being to full because urine can't move from there to the bladder. Also the kidney will swell. If you were able to empty the kidney some the pain will subside. Keep a close eye on your temp, if you get a fever get to the doctor. When I had mine my white blood cell count went up, and I lost about 25% of function in that kidney. That is why they did surgery instead of letting it pass. Quote
Jake P Posted March 21, 2013 Author Posted March 21, 2013 Must be why I feel like my bladder is full but really don't empty it fully. Feels like something is in my bladder playing basketball lol. Thanks for the info y'all. Quote

Super User deaknh03 Posted March 21, 2013 Super User Posted March 21, 2013 Or this... http://youtu.be/Z7zYe_5y8Pc That would work if you had kidney stones in your brain. Quote
Super User BassinLou Posted March 21, 2013 Super User Posted March 21, 2013 I feel for you brother. I had a Kidney stone this past thanksgiving and I could not pass it. Apparently, I have small ureters and I could not pass 3mm stone. I had to have a procedure done to have it it removed. Go to your urologist and he will guide you the right way. Quote
BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted March 21, 2013 BassResource.com Administrator Posted March 21, 2013 I had one 5 years ago. The initial pain made me throw up over and over. A "10" doesn't even describe the pain! That said, it passed 12 hrs later without any pain at all (relatively speaking). I could tell where the stone was as it made its progression, but it was more of a pressure feeling than pain. It popped out without any sensation whatsoever. So hopefully the worst is over for you. Jake P Posted March 21, 2013 Author Posted March 21, 2013 http://www.jumpandbump.com/ This has saved me from a lot of pain. I read this but it said start right when the initial pain begins. Is it still effective a day after? Quote
Super User deaknh03 Posted March 21, 2013 Super User Posted March 21, 2013 Mine is also 3 mm. What was the procedure? The procedure they offered me was to use a thin arm like device with a claw that is extruded out to grab the stone. The device was to be fed thru my "urinary exit device", thereby causing me to pass on this option. Quote
Super User deaknh03 Posted March 21, 2013 Super User Posted March 21, 2013 I read this but it said start right when the initial pain begins. Is it still effective a day after? The first time I tried it, I had been in pain for at least a day. I can tell where the stone is as it travels thru me, I have actually had a stone that was stuck at the tip of my you know what, I was on the job, I went to the bathroom, opened it up and was able to pluck the stone out. Do you know where the stone is? How big it is? Where is your pain? Quote

Doc said it is 3mm Sounds like it's getting close, probably somewhere south of your bladder, if not in your bladder. Personally, I would try the jump, read the instructions and go for it. You will feel it move, and then, pop, you will feel it leave. You will then have no pain, none, it magically disappears. Quote

Super User deaknh03 Posted March 21, 2013 Super User Posted March 21, 2013 One other tip for you, drink water, stay away from cranberry juice unless it's 100% juice, unsweetened. The stones feed on sugar. Quote
Super User BassinLou Posted March 21, 2013 Super User Posted March 21, 2013 If you are feeling it south of your bladder then drink plenty of fluids and it should pass. The procedure I had to have done was a lithotripsy. They had to put me under and they inserted some device thru my man parts and they pulverize the stone. After, they insert a stent from your kidney to your bladder for a few days so that debris of the procedure could continue passing. If you think what I am describing is uncomfortable it is. I can say, that I do not miss those excrutiating bouts of pain. Good luck. Quote
Jake P Posted March 21, 2013 Author Posted March 21, 2013 Is it possible to pass without knowing? My urine is no longer cloudy or dark and I was able to empty my entire bladder it feels like. But I didn't feel anything or see anything.... Quote
