Shoop05 Posted March 20, 2013 Posted March 20, 2013 Hey guys! Just wanted to hear what your goals are for 2013!!! My goals are to catch a PB smallie, anything over 5 pounds. Top 40 in Buckeye Division BFL points to qualify for regionals! How about you? 1 Quote
fstr385 Posted March 20, 2013 Posted March 20, 2013 Think just to beat my PB in the 3 major fish I got for and do more brackish n salt for snook and tarpon... get a 12lb+ LM bass a 5lb+ peacock bass a 7lb+ snakehead 2 Quote
Sbennett9 Posted March 20, 2013 Posted March 20, 2013 Mine would be to top the 8lb LM section and get into some smallies somewhere. Also I really would like to win a tournament since it is my first year fishing them 1 Quote
NEjitterbugger Posted March 20, 2013 Posted March 20, 2013 Catch new PB bass in both categories... Current LM: 5lbs 11 oz and SM: Around 2 to 2.5 1 Quote
Super User lmbfisherman Posted March 20, 2013 Super User Posted March 20, 2013 2013 goals: 1. Get better at crankbait and drop shot. 2. Continue to be better locating bass. 3. Finish respectably in my first two casual tournaments. 4. Set new PBs - Current 3.1 lbs LMB - 3.0 SMB Most of all have fun and fish a lot. Quote
BiteMe73 Posted March 20, 2013 Posted March 20, 2013 My goal for 2013 is to catch the next state record LMB since the "unofficial" state record was caught in my county only a short drive from my house by a fishing friend. But seriously I would like to beat my PB LMB looking for 6 pounds or better and eclipse my PB SMB anything over 5.5 pounds. And to fish more jigs so can get better at them. Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted March 20, 2013 Super User Posted March 20, 2013 I don't keep track of size or numbers (even saltwater fish), my only goal is to enjoy myself and not take it too serious each time I go. I have very little control whether a 1lb or 10 lb fish hits my lure, the first one there is the winner, the 10 is nice, but so is the 1. 1 Quote
GoneFishi'n Posted March 20, 2013 Posted March 20, 2013 I want to catch my first ten pounder. The bass that I am going for is in my picture and I think that with it being healthy and full of eggs because I believe it is a female, and also have food in its stomach with the good amount of minnows in the pond, that it could possibly go past the 10 pound mark and maybe get up to 11 quite possibly 11.5. Also catch my first crankbait and spinnerbait fish. Quote
Gervais03 Posted March 20, 2013 Posted March 20, 2013 I already reached mine of getting a newer boat, was fishing out of a 12 foot aluminum till 2 days ago now i have this little gem. Now just waiting for the ice to go away. But for fishing goals, I am gonna try out a few tourneys and just enjoy fishing. 2 Quote
Super User Felix77 Posted March 20, 2013 Super User Posted March 20, 2013 1 - the drop shot. Committing to it as my go to finesse technique. 2 - in tournaments it's to catch my limit in every tournament. That alone should help me place better than I did last year. 3 - Get on the water more often this season. 1 Quote
esoxangler Posted March 20, 2013 Posted March 20, 2013 1. Catch a bass on what I have dubbed the "A Jay" jig (shown by member A Jay in "Do you use skirts on your plastics" topic), and use jigs more in general. 2. Catch my first fish on a fluke and sluggo. 3. Throw more of a variety of plastics besides the senko. 4. Take my kids fishing a lot more. Quote
Hanover_Yakker Posted March 20, 2013 Posted March 20, 2013 I actually put together the same list already on my blog, but I think after this past weekend's tournament, I may need to adjust it slightly. I still want to be more competitive in the tournaments I am entered in this year, but I need to improve on two specific techniques - crankbaits and spinnerbaits around timber. Quote
aharris Posted March 20, 2013 Posted March 20, 2013 I just want to catch a bass on one of those big swim baits. I suppose I'll have to start fishing with them first. 1 Quote
HeavyDluxe Posted March 20, 2013 Posted March 20, 2013 Posted these elsewhere, but... Get the family out fishing more… I want to have one or more of my children at the water with me per week. We’ll fish for at least an hour, and more if they are into it. I’d hope to get each child and my wife out with rods in hand at least ten times. Having just spend money on a new fishing kayak, I plan to get out in the kayak at least ten different times (hopefully for a couple hours each). I want to specifically work on building skill/confidence in two fishing techniques this season: Pitching jigs into cover or structure and fishing the drop-shot rig. I stink at knot tying, so I want to learn some loop knot and something like the uni knot for attaching leaders to my mainlines. In addition, I want to drill the palomar knot – which is currently my main fishing knot – until it is second nature to tie. I also am incompetent when it comes to cleaning fish, so I want to learn to prep and filet my catch this season. Maybe that will mean we eat a few more, too. Vermont’s Master Angler program strikes me as a great challenge and encourages anglers to chase a wide variety of species. So, I’d like to see how many different qualifying fish I can catch. I doubt, given constraints on my time this year, I’ll get very far… Lastly, I want to learn how to service and maintain my own spinning reels after the ice rolls in. Quote
gallowaypt Posted March 20, 2013 Posted March 20, 2013 I am commited to graduating from dinks to keepers for my average catches. Last year I was concerned more with just getting bit, as it was my first serious year. This year I want to go big or Go home! Guess I need to learn the jig.. 1 Quote

Nick49 Posted March 20, 2013 Posted March 20, 2013 That PB is always a goal for me. In addition, spending more time on the water and learning the not-so-obvious structure in the area of Lake of the Ozarks that I fish regularly. Quote
BlackMagic82 Posted March 20, 2013 Posted March 20, 2013 First year fishing as a member of a club and I want to finish in the top 5 for AOY. Win a tournament. Catch a limit in every tournament. Fish one "big" event and finish in the money. Get more experience on the waters of Central VA. Quote
Jaiden Posted March 20, 2013 Posted March 20, 2013 I moved across the country last July, but haven't been able to fish since. My goal is to catch some fish on new waters and hopefully a PB too. Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted March 20, 2013 Super User Posted March 20, 2013 Get out and fish more than last year. Hit the 5 pound mark at least once this year. Break my PB. Quote
Fishing N Boots Posted March 20, 2013 Posted March 20, 2013 1. Buy a fishing boat. (finally talked the wife into letting me do it) 2. Fish more then previous years. 3. PB Largemouth (5+LBs) 4. PB Walleye (4+LBs) 5. Master the art of fishing with plastics and jigs. Quote
Super User clayton86 Posted March 20, 2013 Super User Posted March 20, 2013 Mine at this point is to fish in above freezing temps! With no snow in the forecast 2 Quote
MrPeanut Posted March 21, 2013 Posted March 21, 2013 catching a new PB always tops the list also I want to catch bigger fish more consistently / lean to pattern fish more Quote
Super User bassfisherjk Posted March 21, 2013 Super User Posted March 21, 2013 My goals for this year are: A To get out on the water as much as I can. B To fish with as many friends and family as possible. C Try and beat my PB of 6.5 lb. D To have as safe of a year as possible. Quote
SudburyBasser Posted March 21, 2013 Posted March 21, 2013 I had a list of goals -- new techniques, PBs, and the like -- now it's simple: Fish more. Take advantage of every weekend. Brother-in-law doesn't want to take the boat out? Shore fish. Brother-in-law wants to go out? Boat fishing. Quote
