Birds have been busy here too. Took a drive to some of the lakes I fish this morning. The lake where my boat mechanic is, is still under 12" of ice and had probably 2 dozen shantys on it. My home lake(s) which is part of a river system is open only in the areas with current. The ramp I launch at still has the snow they plowed covering it, but the water is open. Going to bring a shovel out there and clear it off. It's only about 2 ft. I got to get the motor broke in. First club tourney in 4 weeks. First open tourney in 2 weeks. I'm thinking it may get cancelled. Lake Michigan is open. I know a couple salmon guys who went out today.

I look to Nature to tell me when Spring is coming; and Yes it will....... The jonquils are blooming, the Maple Tree leaf buds are popping their jackets, and the tree frogs are out doing their mating sounds.

Next thing you know and the waters will be filled with idiots on their PWC buzzing around, and power yachts & sail boats will be everywhere. So enjoy a quite day on the water while you can.

Spring is a coming!!   Are you ready???

We got 4 or 5 inches of snow already and supposed to get a couple more through tomorrow night. Good thing is we really need any kind of moisture we can get and looks like we may be in the clear by next Wednesday  :respect-059:

Anyone know of an iphone app that lets you track temps in your area over a period of time.  At one time I tracked daily high and lows with Excel to see  if I could relate the data to actual water temps but there appeared to be other factors missing.  It was useful as a trending tool.

Looking out at the 12+ inches of very wet snow in my back yard, I'll answer the original question by saying; winter apparently ends sometime after spring begins.

Oh no, you don't. If nominated, I will not run. If elected, I will not serve.

Besides, getting up and finding the head is enough of an accomplishment for me most mornings. You want me to go outside, in cold weather, and find my shadow?

Don't forget the part about living in a hole in the ground.  :)

We were looking good here and the next few days are supposed to be in the 40's, 50's, and even one day in the 60's, then back in the 30's with a chance of snow Monday-Wednesday of next week. Seems like each time it looks like winter might lose it's grip it comes charging right back. I was going through old posts on the local forums and I was fishing in a t shirt the 27th of March last year and we put over 200 fish in the boat between 3 of us. This year I bet the water temps aren't above 42 degrees with ice on some of the smaller lakes still  :dazed-7:

OK, you lunatic, I'll do it next year. I'll get up, go outside, and write my name in the snow. I'll know if it's gonna be a good year if I can write my entire name. Anything less will mean buckle up suckers, it's gonna be a bad day.
