Super User Jigfishn10 Posted March 18, 2013 Super User Posted March 18, 2013 Fished for the first time yesterday on a balmy 37* degree day...expecting 6" of snow tonight...Man, I'm tired of winter! 1 Quote
Super User Felix77 Posted March 18, 2013 Super User Posted March 18, 2013 LOL ... I hear ya brother. We are expecting anywhere from 6-12 inches tonight/tomorrow. Ironic because a friend and I did a drive by of several lakes to begin our fishing plans as early as next week. What a bummer! Quote
Super User Ratherbfishing Posted March 18, 2013 Super User Posted March 18, 2013 This has got to be a rhetorical question. The answer: I don't think it's ever going to end. I've been holding my breath since last October. Quote

LOL...2 weeks ago I did the same thing and found a couple of spots iced out after a few 50* days, then we got 24" of snow last weekend and iced the waters back up... Can't win this year Felix! Quote
Super User clayton86 Posted March 18, 2013 Super User Posted March 18, 2013 I did the same thing with my son drive around looking for iced out spots to fish. Iv been out 3 times this year one of them being that 65* day we had last sunday I got a northern and a brown trout. The two times since I just froze my arse off. I'm so sick of this weather it's so depressing. Quote
Super User Raider Nation Fisher Posted March 18, 2013 Super User Posted March 18, 2013 When does Puxatony Phil make his appearance? Quote
Super User MCS Posted March 18, 2013 Super User Posted March 18, 2013 I know man it is supposed to get into the 40's for lows again this weekend. Like hot no cold no hot no cold. Come on I need consistent 80's! But still the cold days here are not really depressing as they were up north and I can still fish. Lol Quote

Super User Fishing Rhino Posted March 18, 2013 Super User Posted March 18, 2013 I'm not even thinking about it. OK, I'm thinking about it, but I see nothing in the ten day forecast that provides a glimmer of hope. The way the weather is around here, I may not get on the water until I get to Pickwick for the road trip. I'd at least like to get on the water, and get the outboard fired up. It was winterized in December, so I'd like to run it some before leaving this frozen wasteland. Quote
Super User tomustang Posted March 19, 2013 Super User Posted March 19, 2013 When does Puxatony Phil make his appearance? He already did and predicted an early spring heh Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted March 19, 2013 Super User Posted March 19, 2013 What gets me are the shifts in the temps. One day it's in the 50's and the next day it's in the low 30's. Last year this time we were in the 80's and holding. 1 Quote

Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted March 20, 2013 Global Moderator Posted March 20, 2013 We had 80 degree temps 3 days ago, supposed to snow 3 inches Thursday and not make it back to average temps again until next Wednesday Quote
Super User .ghoti. Posted March 20, 2013 Super User Posted March 20, 2013 By the calendar, it ends today. It will end for me when I catch my first bass of the year. Water temps here are still way too cold, and the weather has truly created a vacuum. Quote
Super User slonezp Posted March 20, 2013 Super User Posted March 20, 2013 A balmy 25 today, the first day of spring Quote
Super User Fishing Rhino Posted March 20, 2013 Super User Posted March 20, 2013 Marty and the calendar lie. Quote
plumworm Posted March 20, 2013 Posted March 20, 2013 At 7:45 this a.m. (when spring began) I was blowing 3 ft. drifts out of my driveway with 25-30 mph gusts blowing it right back in my face. I love spring. Quote
Super User Oregon Native Posted March 21, 2013 Super User Posted March 21, 2013 Dang...glad I don't live in the land of hard water!!! We moved to Tennessee a couple years ago and I'm loving fishing 12 months of the year. Or at least pretty close....very little snow so far. Even had shirt off a couple times. (not pretty but felt good) Good luck up there. Quote
scrutch Posted March 23, 2013 Posted March 23, 2013 Guess what we're having for Easter Sunday lunch next weekend?? GROUNDHOG! Puxatawney Phil is no more!! Stinkin' varmint! Last year we had FIVE eighty degree days by this time!! Quote
Super User clayton86 Posted March 23, 2013 Super User Posted March 23, 2013 Iv been seeing quite a few groundhogs lately maybe it's a sign...... One thing that is normally a good sign but i haven't seen yet is birds. All I'm seeing still is starlings and the little finches that stay here year round. Normally I will start seeing robins a few weeks before the weather breaks and I have yet to see one. Quote
grampa1114 Posted March 23, 2013 Posted March 23, 2013 I saw two Robins on Thursday morning....they looked lost.....probably frozen to death by now.... Quote

Super User clayton86 Posted March 23, 2013 Super User Posted March 23, 2013 I should have known saying that this morning I'd see em everywhere fishing this morning lol. Quote
