Bk4 Posted March 18, 2013 Posted March 18, 2013 What kind of technique is used for braided line? As far as I know technique that's used for braided line are jigs and frog. Anything beside jigs and frog? Like using it with fluro or mono or just pure braid. Quote
gripnrip Posted March 18, 2013 Posted March 18, 2013 Use whatever feels right for you. x2 There's a guy in my club that doesn't use anything other than braid. 50 pound test and higher. I use it for many things a well. It just takes some time to figure out what "you" prefer. Quote
BrettD Posted March 18, 2013 Posted March 18, 2013 I use it on everything. You do have to adapt to using braid with certain techniques like using a fast rod instead of x-fast or running a really light drag on baits with treble hooks. Quote
JigMe Posted March 18, 2013 Posted March 18, 2013 Use it any technique, but don't set the hook too hard. 1 Quote
Super User J Francho Posted March 18, 2013 Super User Posted March 18, 2013 I like braid around weeds. On spinning gear, being able to use a smaller diameter line with a higher breaking strength is a huge advantage. I like to present a wacky jig or shaky head on clear fluoro. 10 or 12 lb. is just too unmanageable on spinning gear, but it's really necessary when the weeds get think. A dedicated finesse casting rig isn't in many's budget either. The simplest solution is something like 15-20 lb. braid. You can tie direct, or use that heavier 12 lb. fluoro leader as I prefer, but still be able to cast without thought to line management issues. Quote
Super User lmbfisherman Posted March 18, 2013 Super User Posted March 18, 2013 I use braid on a majority of my reels/techniques and if a situation calls for something different I use a leader on them. They aren't limited and like Jerzihogg says it's what feels right for you. I am still choosing what my default line will be, I'm testing out P-Line and Yo Zuri on the remainder of my reels and hope to make the call this season. So far I'm leaning towards all braid. Quote
Super User Marty Posted March 18, 2013 Super User Posted March 18, 2013 I use braid on everything. Quote
Bass Junkie Posted March 18, 2013 Posted March 18, 2013 I personally use it almost exclusively for Frogging. My needs elsewhere are suitably met by mono-filament lines. Quote
Super User flyfisher Posted March 18, 2013 Super User Posted March 18, 2013 I like braid for pretty much everything. I even tried it out cranking using 8lb diameter on my cranking set up and it is performing better than when I used 10 or 12lb mono or flouro. 1 Quote
