I'v never really tried wacky rig or sanko fishing and was wondering if you have any tips on it or what kinds of worms and hooks to use.

Either use a wacko rig or an octopus hook with an actual Yamamoto Senko. Use light line and always work with a slack line. You will see the line move and just sent the hook. Easy way to catch tons of fish.

wacky rigging is my main weapon,  i use a octopus hook and yamamoto senkos.I prefer to keep my line tight then loose. 90% of your hits are going to be on the fall. The way i fish it is easy, i cast it out then give it a couple of jigs before it hits the bottom, once it hits the bottom i let it sit for a couple of seconds then repeat the process. I use a 6'6 gloomis jig rod, medium power, fast action.you will get snagged alot, and you will spend a lot of money on senkos. Some people will put o rings in the middle of the worm to help save the worm from ripping, i prefer not to do this. Bigger the worm bigger the fish, i prefer to use a 6inch senko.

There's a huge senko thread that's pinned to the top of the fishing tackle board. Helped Me immensely.

Yum dingers are fine. Use the 5" ones, depending on cover that you will be fishing, might want to use a weedless hook. The senkos are better though, but are more expensive and don't hold up as well. good luck

Sometimes at Walmart you can find Dingers in the bargain bin for $1.49 a pack. I usually buy up all I see. Some are covered in salt and others aren't.

Not gonna lie, the Kicker Fish Bait wackey Rig looks goofy as heck, but its pretty nice. I have caught quite a few fish on them. I really like them cause you can use a regular EWG hook on them. You can go from weightless T Rigged Senko to Wacky rig without having to tie a new knot. It looks goofy, but works well

Why do people suggest light line like 6lb for senkos? is it for slower fall rate?

Depends how clear your water is. I usually use 20# braid with a short 10# flouro leader.

Obviously, a senko is a fish catcher for sure but don't overlook the Zoom Trick Worms and Finesse Worms. You can get them at any Wal-Mart for half the price of Senkos and can be fished effectively with every technique there is.

What I do...

*7 ft med/fast spinning rod.

*20# braid with 12# floro leader

*6 " senko or other stick bait

*O ring sometimes in the middle, sometimes off center

*2/0 Octopus hook with weed gard if needed, or not.

*Cast out with as little splash as possible

*Let sink to bottom, let it sit for a while

*Lift and repeat

*Lift and repeat

*Lift and repeat

Reel in, cast and repeat

I have begun working with 1/0 and 2/0 split shot/drop shot hooks.  Not only does it hold the senko better but the light wire seems to hook them with little to no effort.  Even cooler is that there are ones with weed guards on them too so if you use those there is added protection when fishing in the weeds and stuff.

I say....Buck the trend!

My main wacky rig is a Haw River High floater in Pink or a d Watermelon Red Zoom Trick worm (friggin' deadly in clear water!).  Put a shortened 8d nail in the nose...fish bridge pilings with it too, great action that way.
