Bk4 Posted March 16, 2013 Posted March 16, 2013 At a MH berkley lighting shock what is it use for? I got Medium rod already so I was wondering what would a MH be used for. Quote
jhoffman Posted March 16, 2013 Posted March 16, 2013 I use a mh to fish jigs, thats not enough for some but it is for me. we dont have the slop the south does Quote
skeletor6 Posted March 16, 2013 Posted March 16, 2013 Yeah you can get by fishing a lot of techniques with this rod. Its more of a moderate fast action, but you can throw spinners fish t-rigs and jigs in mild cover...its not like your comparing it to a high dollar rod. When I had mine I needed it to cover techniques outside its range and it did the job. Did you get the 7 foot? I recommend that over the 6'6" 1 Quote
JunkYard814 Posted March 17, 2013 Posted March 17, 2013 I fish spinnerbaits, jigs and shallow cranks on my MH lightning rod shock. Quote
Bk4 Posted March 17, 2013 Author Posted March 17, 2013 Came back and pick up the berkley lighting shock rod 7'0 for $44 ... now what's a good line for it? Quote
OkeechobeeAngler Posted March 17, 2013 Posted March 17, 2013 Some top quality braid or flouro. Power pro or Seaguar. 1 Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted March 17, 2013 Super User Posted March 17, 2013 I used my 7' MH Shock for frogs (both hollow, and horny toads), swim jigs, spinnerbaits, buzzbaits, skinny dipper type swimbaits, larger spooks/topwaters, ripping traps and squarebills out of grass, flukes, and senkos. It was one of my last non St Croix rods that I replaced this winter with a 7'1" MH/F Rage....but I am not getting rid of it. It's an excellent all purpose rod. I fished 50lb power pro braid on it. 1 Quote

I believe the guides on that rod are built for braid. That isn't to say you can't fish fluoro or mono on it but you also won't have issues other inexpensive rods have with braid. Quote

Yeah it says that it is built for superlines, but I fished Trilene 100% and it worked just fine. GIven the lack of sensitivity in this rod, I might be inclined to use braid. I am a die hard fluoro guy though. Quote
JunkYard814 Posted March 17, 2013 Posted March 17, 2013 I had 17lb mono on mine. It really depends what you plan on using it for. Quote
