Best Lure To Target The Big Ones?

imo the buckeye mop jig and mini mop jig are your big fish catchers. This is the first year i've thrown them but i'm very impressed with the flare on the skirt

A big jig and trailer is always a good choice and a large topwaters like zara spooks and lunker plunkers have been known to catch a pig. Big swim baits are also known to be hawg catchers..

Teal is spot on here! I do target big bass with baits like 3/4 to 1 0z. football jigs and I swim them in deep water on the bottom.And I like Netbaits big 11 and 15 in. C-Mac worm.THE END

Like usual I agree with this guy   .. the only thing i'd add is a big worm or lizard.

Caught some of my largest fish while tossing tiny offerings. This winter I caught a 7lber. on a 1/32oz. jig head with a 3/4" curly tail grub while crappie fishing. There's no one answer to this question. If I had to name one big fish bait it would be 4" or larger swimbait. Have fun tossing it for 2 hours without a single bite though. Large profile crankbaits/jerkbaits tend to catch bigger fish too in my experience. Then again, I've caught 6" bluegills on 4" cranks.

In the last 3 years in WNY, I have caught about ten fish over 6lbs. Most of them on jigs.

Although jigs generally catch bigger fish they also catch small fish.

 

To truely target only big fish I would throw a 6"+++ swimbait

My PB, 10lb came on a simple green/white Terminator spinnerbait. Almost all of my over 5lb fish have come on spinnerbaits, buzzbaits and rattletraps.

In addition to the suggestions so far, I'll throw in a buzzbait. It will catch some dinks for sure, but over half of the bass that I've caught that were 5 or over have come on a buzzbait.

No love for top water frogs!? For me... the frog is my best quality fish catcher and has produced some of the biggest fish I've caught most CONSISTENTLY.

That's the key with the frog for me, it COSISTENTLY CATCHES quality fish (over 3 pounds)

Most of the bigger fish I catch are on a heavy jig but any lure can catch them. My best 5 fish limit were caught on a Zoom horny toad.
