jhoffman Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 Anyone throwing these? I have two ordered, at not much bigger than a spinnerbait I wont need an entirely new setup to throw it. Who are you buying them from, which models? Quote
Super User Felix77 Posted March 15, 2013 Super User Posted March 15, 2013 I have a few which I bought over the winter. All YUM 1 - Ultralight Tri - The tiny one. Plan to use small grubs on it and fish it instead of my spinnerbait sometimes. 2 - Flash Mob Jr 5 wire - for swimbaits and grubs too. When allowed to throw it 3 - Flash Mob Jr 3 wire - Same as #2 but when I can't throw the 5 wire. Quote
jhoffman Posted March 15, 2013 Author Posted March 15, 2013 I went with the micro-frenzy .... 3 colorado blades... one on each arm independant of the swivel/swimbait Might put 3 sick fish on it, small ones Quote
jhoffman Posted March 15, 2013 Author Posted March 15, 2013 I also said I wouldnt throw an A-rig and that was due to size and needing a big rod, this was a game changer for me Quote
Super User J Francho Posted March 15, 2013 Super User Posted March 15, 2013 The Picasso School-E Rig is very light. It's a resin head. With 1/8 oz. swimbait jigs, and 3" baits, it's no issue throwing on MH tackle. 1 Quote
zip pow Posted March 16, 2013 Posted March 16, 2013 I use the mini frenzy 4 wire with 1/4 heads and 5" swimbaits on a 7'11" duckett MH crankbait rod and I do not lob cast it will go when you whip it out there. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted March 16, 2013 Global Moderator Posted March 16, 2013 I've fished the small 3 arm YUM, can't buy a fish with it. I even threw it at schooling white bass with 3 2" sassy shads and they wouldn't touch it. Had the same experience with schooling largemouth this summer with it. 1 Quote
Trever Posted March 16, 2013 Posted March 16, 2013 I have been making my own after seeing the crappie rigs from BPS. I also used one a friend of mine made. I use the Do-it umbrella rig mold but the smallest head size is 3/8 and then I bend my own 3 wire harness. I use Keitech trailers with darter heads. These rigs and underspins have been killing it on my lake recently. Below is the first one I made, kinda ugly I know. 1 Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted March 16, 2013 Super User Posted March 16, 2013 I catch more bass on this one than crappie. Quote
PondBoss Posted March 16, 2013 Posted March 16, 2013 Yum ultralight tripod. I used it yesterday for the first time and it was easy to cast on a 7'3 MH Pinnacle Perfecta. I caught 2 fish on it, but swam it right in front of 2 fish in the 3-4 lb range and they just looked it off. Quote
PondBoss Posted March 17, 2013 Posted March 17, 2013 What soft bait where u using?? I was using the mini swimming flukes, initially I was using the little curly tail grubs that come with it, but wanted to see how it would handle a medium sized bait. Quote
swanseabass Posted March 17, 2013 Posted March 17, 2013 I was using the mini swimming flukes, initially I was using the little curly tail grubs that come with it, but wanted to see how it would handle a medium sized bait. I bought some of the Evolve RX Vibra Micro Grub. To try on this rig. I maybe try it this week and let u know if I get something. How do u retrieve it. Quote
PondBoss Posted March 18, 2013 Posted March 18, 2013 I was fishing it pretty shallow and quick. The grass in the ponds I was fishing comes up to about 4 feet. So I was launching it as far as I could and reeling it anywhere from the surface down to the grass. Had a couple misses which is weird because they absolutely smoke it when they hit it. But managed a couple of dinks. Quote
swanseabass Posted March 18, 2013 Posted March 18, 2013 Going to try it and ill take photos if I get something and what rod type do u use.? Quote
PondBoss Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 I have been throwing the rig on a 7'3" Pinnacle Perfecta C-Rig rod. It's pretty stout for a MH ( I use it for flipping and pitching mostly) But it is the perfect tool for the job here. I threw it again today while at a couple of different ponds and notta thing, caught a couple of plastics and cranks though. Quote
TNBassin' Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 Whats the best set up for a MH rod? Jig head size and bait size? I wanna keep it within 1oz, with 3/4oz being ideal if I can get a set up that light. Quote
PondBoss Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 I am throwing 1/8oz heads on my tri-pod and it works great. Still heavy enough to get to any depth, but not so heavy I need a broom stick to throw it on. Quote
TNBassin' Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 I just bought one today. I got those black 1/8oz yum jig heads. Gonna use some lft live magic shad and see how they do. How do I bend this Thing out to where it should be? Can someone post a pic of what it should look like? Quote
PondBoss Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 I've got mine bent out to about 60* angles. Make it look like a camera tripod, but wide and you're set. Hope you have better luck on it than I am so far. Quote
jhoffman Posted March 20, 2013 Author Posted March 20, 2013 I dont think swimbaits are enough, it has to have some flash also Quote
jhoffman Posted March 20, 2013 Author Posted March 20, 2013 Well, my micro showed up today and its much smaller than any other three arm. I am telling you no joke this thing is the size of my palm and every bit as small as a spinnerbait. If I put sick fish on it, they will have to be the smallest ones made. Quote

jhoffman Posted March 20, 2013 Author Posted March 20, 2013 Im gonna unleash it on my club, no one I know of knows about it. Its gonna be like little john... Quote
TNBassin' Posted March 21, 2013 Posted March 21, 2013 If I find the 1/8oz jig heads make the rig too heavy, I'm gonna replace them with 3/o hooks. The weight of the head on the ultra light and the 3in magic shad I have on it should be enough weight. Quote
