St Croix Panfish series 6'9" Ultra light power/fast action spinning rod. Been wanting a nice UL set for chasing bluegills, and perch around my home lake for years. Also got a spool of 4lb Power Pro micro braid, and a spool of Seaguar Red Label 4lb fluorocarbon. Now I need to sell or trade one of my extra 2500 sized spinning reels for a 1000 size.

Well I changed my mind on that the next day, and called and canceled the order. Thank god they didn't ship yet. So today, after it got too muddy to work, I decided I better go to the city and at least handle several UL rods before I pull the trigger on one. They had the St Croix Panfish rods where I went, and several nice Shimano UL rods. I ended up going with the Shimano Convergeance  6' UL. I liked the handle on that better than the St Croix, and I like the fact it was cheaper LOL. Paired it with a 1000 size Shimano Sedona, and since they didn't have either of the lines I wanted (Red Label FC, and 4lb Power Pro) I went with 4lb green Berkley Nanofil, and 4lb Stren fluorocast for leaders. Also picked up some chatter baits, SK swimbait jig heads, and VMC wacky jigs, and another jar of 1" Gulp! minnows.

Not today but a couple days ago I ordered two packs of sickfish and a Humminbird 561 DI fishfinder.

It'll be my first fishfinder (was always a member of the bank beater club before) so I can't wait to get it setup and put it to some use.   :respect-059:

I wasn't planning on getting a ff but it is kind of an end of tax season gift to myself and now I'll be able to get off the banks during the hot days of summer.

I finally pulled the trigger on my first Loomis (off shelf have a custom Loomis Flipping Stick), a GLX 853, I was originally going to nab the 893 but I didn't think I need one longer than 7' for now.  I also got a discontinued Cumara 6'9" MH/XF and I was set to buy the discontinued Cumara flipping stick until I was recommended the Fenwick Aetos 7'6" H/XF.  It felt better in store and felt just as sensitive as the Cumara.  So I said wth, lets go for it.  I got them all below retail, $30 off GLX, $20 off Aetos and $70 off Cumara.  No more rods for awhile!

Went to an outfitter and bought some soft plastics and a spinnerbait box. That should have been enough but I went to the annual sportsman's show later today (well, Friday) and bought some spinnerbaits and some odd jig heads the guy at the booth called "jig flies". Never seen them before so I figured I'd buy a couple and see how they pan out this summer. Web site for those jig flies is here if anyone is curious.

Didn't need any of it...sigh.

Oh, and joined our new local chapter of BASS complete with tourneys. Can't wait to finally tournament fish!

New Lews Super Duty...$63. :thumbsup3:

WOW, I need to shop from your source. Good buy, i just wish that the super duty had a centrifigul brake or dual instead of the MCS.

eBay. I agree on mag only brakes, but I can live with them. This one is a 5.4, I'll try it for deep cranks, I don't know if thats really it's strong suit, but I wasn't gonna pass at that price. ;) I've also seen other Lews reels going cheap lately there.

I didn't forget it Jeff, I purposely omitted that particular pattern.

As you know, Baby Grennel is a special run custom color by LC and very rarely available.

I lock mine in the safe . . . .

Had a $10 off $25 coupon for Dick's so I picked up a spool of sufix 832 for my new lew's and a tube of megastrike for $20. Stopped by BPS afterwards and got a few packs of sick fish since they were on sale along with a couple of the rapala scatter rap and a red eye shad to replace the one I lost.

It wwould do well with A rigs, big swim baits,... if i got one (which i didnt even NEED the one i just got) it would be a 7:1 for jigs and pitchin. Yours will do well for cranks, but as i get older and smarter ive found that anything im going to be making alot of long casts with needs centrifigul or dual brakes...it makes life so much easier and is not as finicky as mag brakes. But i have the reg speed spool reel with mag brakes and while it is a finicky, once you take the time and about a dozen casts and dial it in, its is awesome.

Clean and service it when you get it, the last several Lews reels i got, were over lubed and greased when i got them (new). Once i cleaned and relubed and greased them, i was able to get alot more distance and smoothness.
