Spinnerbaits and Roostertails. I have way more than I need. A few years ago I would buy any one I ran across that happened to be a different color than what I already have. Now I control that more and have actually thinned down my collection to 45 spinnerbaits, and about 80 Roostertails.

When I buy Roosters, I get them 3 at a time in whatever color and size I'm buying. If I get 3 different sizes in the same color then that's 9 baits I just bought. I've been known to have the tackle shops order them in case quantities of my favorite colors and then I bought them all when they came in. I lose a lot of them too, otherwise I'd have a lot more.

I don't buy spinnerbaits in duplicates like that but I do tend to duplicate the same patterns across multiple brands over time. I have several different brands of 3/8 white with tandem or double willow blades. I'm also a sucker for a chartreuse and white, or some other combination. Any different kind of firetiger I can find also, I grab it up. One might be mostly chartreuse and orange, or have more neon green in it than another. If it's like that then I gotta have it.

i would say jigs and spinnerbaits. Just because i like to make them, so i have quite the stock pile. As far as store bought baits, i would have to say jig trailers. I have 2 big storage bins full of trailers. I have every color Paca craw they make, every color Rage craw they make. On top of that i have rage grubs, Menaces, chigger craws, zoom swimmin flukes, and regular flukes for bladed jigs. I would say i have over 20 bags of black/blue paca craws and 10 bags of saphire blue trailers. I think the reason i collect them is because all my trailers can also be used as a bait by themselves. If i had to narrow it down to one single bait, it would be the Rage Craw. Every single time i go to BPS or make a TW order, i get at least 1 pack of rage craws.

Jigs even though at suck at using them. I just cannot go to the store and not buy one or two more.

Squarebill cranks and jigs. I have to have multiple sizes and colors for every situation possible.

Honestly? Every. Single. One. I can't think of one because I buy em all. All the time. Jigs, flukes, worms, craws spinnerbaits etc. you name it.

I guess flukes though. They are on the grocery list every Friday. it's funny too cause I don't fish them that often.... I AM the bait monkey!!!!!!

WHAT ??????????????????????????????

I know you and I discussed this, but I cannot catch a fish on a white chunk or worm. Give me any other color and I'm good to go. But this year I am going to try it again to see what happens. I'll report back to you with my results.

Jerkbaits and squarebills, and sale items, and lure building supplies, and finesse worms, and beaver baits, and creature baits, and jig trailers. Other than that I'm golden  :laugh5:

I'm like you RoadWarrior. I have well in excess of 250 jerkbaits from nearly every current manufacturer. Megabass, Jackall, Strike King, Smithwick, Rapala, SPRO, Lucky Craft, Luck E strike, Bomber... It's a sickness. So many of them are just hanging on pegboard in the garage.

The other thing I can't walk away from is Pre- Rapala wiggle warts. I'll buy em regardless of color.

I buy as a go for most things, I don't keep a large supply.  I am consumed with 1 species in particular and I make my own lures, I'm constantly ordering components.  After quite a few years I'm at the point of near perfection, but the next step is refine them a bit in an attempt to please my eye, they will not catch anymore fish.  I plan on pouring my jigheads, ball chain swivel instead of a hook, I own one that was made up may years, just want to make one similar.  I also want to add some spinner blades and send them up to some of my muskie buddies to see what they can do.

When i was about 14 years old I seen a bass fisherman and was
amazed by the amount of tackle he had. That man explain that different times
and conditions the fish prefer different gear. I said wow it must have cost you
5000 dollars for all that stuff how did you do it. He laughed and said every
time your parents take you to wal-mart pick up something anything no matter how
little and as time goes on you will see how fast your collection of tackle will
grow.

Well I have not been able to stop taking his advice it’s been
almost 20 years now and I still can’t go into a store that sells fishing stuff without
picking up something. Grrrr what a mean ole fisherman :P

Lately it has been crankbaits and jerkbaits.  In the winter I stop at one of the tackleshops (there are three :eyebrows:) on my way home from work on Fridays, I try to only buy a couple at a time.

I don't really have enough money to have a weakness in a certain type of lure collection, but I guess mine would have to be soft plastics. I have 3 plano 3700's full of soft baits I hardly ever use.

Great post. I go through phases. Right now, it's jigs and soft plastics. I feel real good about it though, because over the Fall and Winter, it was

G Loomis rods,......whew!!....glad that phase is over. Uh, I think it's over.

Besides blondes (and brunettes and red heads), my weakness is WINTERTIME.  During the warm weather months I actually don't buy that much.  I'm too busy fishing (or mowing or watering the yard, etc).  It's the winter when I'm all cooped up inside that I buy stuff.  Lately it's been Rapala crankbaits in their various manifestations.  But if the local store has a serious sale on just about anything, I'll probably buy it.  Grrrrrrr!!!!

Mine is Jigs, crankbaits, and rage pastics. Everytime I go into bass pro im walking out with atleast one of those items. It has gotten bad too, the people at bass pro are starting to knowme pretty well a couple weeks ago I was buying, well some fishing stuff, and i handed her my debit card and she flipped it over to the see id part and she looked at me and said "im not gona id you because I see you in here all the time buying stuff" I finally decided that my trips to bass pro needed to slow down, I also lived 5 miles away from the bass pro. Thank goodness i moved to college which is 2hrs away from that bass pro so I dont spend any money while im here but when I go home I seem to always find my self in there...
