topwaterrob Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 Man the lake is confusing the crap out of me.... Fished the tourney out of Belle Glade and just couldnt find big fish. Found a decent amout of keeper size but lost the only big bite I had all day not once but twice.... Didnt bother bringing a bag of keepers to the scale as I knew it wouldnt have touched the 25 or so it took to win. Anyone else had any luck?? Quote
sunkboat on big o Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 had 13.9, knew were some big post spawn females were, caught a 5 and 4 but couldnt get others to bite. Seems to me when the sun is out and you are in the clear water the females are spawning around it gets alot harder to get them to bite. We went pretty far up north. Anyone know if any southern areas are holding spawners? i know a guy who caught an 8 sat in a tourny south on a bed but nothing else. Quote

What won big fish? Quote

shallow thinker Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 Saw tons of beds over on the Shoal with buck bass. We kept at it hoping some momma's would come in during the afternoon but it never happened for us. If I remember correctly there were only 3-4 bags over 20 lbs weighed. Quote

shallow thinker Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 BP10 there are tons of bass clubs in Broward as well as 'open' tournaments out of Holiday Park, Alligator Alley, and Lake Okeechobee. Steve Waters column in the Sun Sentinel on Friday lists the open tournaments for next few weekends. There will often be flyers posted or in the store at Holiday Park. On Lake O, you have Bassbusters once a month, Slims 2x a month, and some others out of Roland Martin's Tackle shop on a regular basis. There will be weekend tournaments every weekend through June so go catch them up! If you are fishing around Margate... watch out for the snakeheads. There are even tournaments for those critters coming in a few months (hosted by JD's Custom Baits). Quote

That place we fished in the afternoon had some serious fish. Hundreds of beds and most all of them had a buck bass sitting on it. I really thought with the warming trend/new moon situation the big females would have moved in that afternoon. Knowing our luck...a wave of pigs moved in @ about 3:15. I would have loved to fish there Monday/Tuesday... Quote

There are flyers/business cards for many of the local bass clubs posted there. Quote
