Brian6428 Posted March 10, 2013 Posted March 10, 2013 Hey guys, I need a new rod for my spinning reel. I am looking for something under $50, to be used mainly for lighter lures. I need it to be good for most techniques because I can't afford different rods for each technique. I fish from shore if that helps any. Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks! Quote
Diggy Posted March 10, 2013 Posted March 10, 2013 You can get a berkley shock from walmart for 40 new and it is rated from 1/8 lure weight Quote
kylek Posted March 10, 2013 Posted March 10, 2013 You can get a berkley shock from walmart for 40 new and it is rated from 1/8 lure weight I use this rod and it is a decent rod for the money. Quote
coak Posted March 10, 2013 Posted March 10, 2013 Check Craigslist......whenever I'm looking, I always see a lot of spinning rods for sale. Casting rods not so much, but spinning rods as the day is long Quote
Brian6428 Posted March 10, 2013 Author Posted March 10, 2013 thanks for the suggestions, I will check out the berkley shock and cragslists. Thanks! Quote
Super User Felix77 Posted March 10, 2013 Super User Posted March 10, 2013 Abu Garcia @ walmart rocks. I use it for tournaments i liked it so much. Quote
Diggy Posted March 10, 2013 Posted March 10, 2013 Try to find a used Powell Diesel! I was also going to suggest this. A member "jbsoonerfan" has one for 50 here shipped practically brand new http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/110897-rods-for-sale/?hl=%2Bdiesel Quote
Dave P Posted March 10, 2013 Posted March 10, 2013 Abu Garcia Vengeance is in that price range. Decent, but feel a little stiff for their rating. Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted March 11, 2013 Super User Posted March 11, 2013 Another vote for the Lightning Rod Shock's. I fish them right alongside my St Croix Mojo's, Avid's , and L.T.'s and am pretty impressed with them for what they are. Quote
BenBassmaster Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 You can get a Powell Diesel at www.thefishranger.com for $49.99 brand new. Lightning Rod Shock is a good choice, but I'd go with a Diesel. 1 Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted March 11, 2013 Super User Posted March 11, 2013 What ever you buy don't buy it on line unless you get free shipping. The additional shipping expense used at a local store may buy just a bit better rod. 1 Quote
