What gives with the ESPN commentators and writers bashing on my Raider Qbs?!

Pryor comes out and says he is working his tail off to be a team leader and starter, and all these biased hacks can do is bash him and Palmer! The heck gives? Yeah we had a bad run by drafting JaWalrus Russelln but Pryor seems to have something special about him. I forsee him doing good things with the Raiders.

Also how can they even consider putting (Wilson, Kaepernick, and RG3) in the same league of greatness as Cam Newton? Newton is a dang monster of a QB. He is and will go on to do amazing things in the NFL. Especially if he gets with a better team or the panthers get some better players.

I hate that for ya buddy. My panthers had a bad run with ESPN and Delhomme. Yall will come out of it soon. I hope that the Raiders do good things. They actually have a front office now, so i see that team changing. Its just going to take time o build a team thru the draft and get out from under alot of the huge contracts that Al had them under.

Not hating on Al, but i do think that all teams need a front office separate the owner.

Hang in there buddy

Sorry, but Wilson, Kaep, and RG3 are already 2 times the QB Newton will ever be.

Also, sorry that all you have to look forward to is Pryor. Gonna be a long few years of being a Raider fan.

Ummm no. They are a year behind Cam.

I dont think either of the three can take the hits that Cam does. None can dole out the punishment that he does either. The man has broke how many records in his first two years? Cam is a freaking man child.

As for Pryor, dont hate. He was and is a good qb. He aint a Manning or Brady by any means, but is still a good qb.

Father Al did some stupid things in his last years. The mans mind was definitely going in the last years of his life. He was awesome during the early seventies and eighties though.

Cam, Kap, Wilson, RG3, Vince Young, Michael Vick, McNabb.....  They're all the same quarterback.  Great for the highlight reel; No championships.

Give em a chance.

How can one make that "assumption" that they are all the same. only 3 of the 7QBs you listed have more than two years experience in the NFL. And 3 of the 4 with 2 years or less have play off experience.

Its not fair to compare all of those guys.

Raider sorry to hijack this thread.

You're right, Teal.  They might do something.  But, any time you get a mobile qb, ESPN over-hypes them.  It seems to be the pattern that they have an awesome year or two, then slip into mediocrity.  I hope this latest batch will be different.  They sure are exciting to watch!

Cam and the others are part of the thread. So no harm no foul.

Thanks, i havent watched every game of Kap, or wilson because i am on the east coast, but i have watched every game for Cam and some RG3. And i have noticed that both of them do better without the spread, or QB option attack. Both have incredible arms. Lets not forget that this season , Cam did much better when they took out most of the college QB bullcrap. He won the last 6 of 7them games.

Alot of it is the team as a whole and not just the QB.

I do think that Tyrell Pryor can improve and make himself a "starting cailber" QB.

After all, there were several greats that couldnt win a SB but did eventually.

Don't forget that Dan Marino set passing records but has no SB ring...

In the NFL there have been many QB's that have been slow starters and gone to have very good careers, with the exception of only 1 Raider in history that makes that list, and that's the "snake".  Even though Stabler never won a championship (either did Marino) he is the benchmark that all Raider QB's are measured against, I see nothing but mediocrity on the Raider's horizon at the QB position.

Not hating on Al, but i do think that all teams need a front office separate the owner.

How many Super Bowls has Jerry Jones won............3.  I don't think many would argue that he is the final word on everything that happens in the Cowboy organization, regardless of managing partners like Barry Switzer or Jimmy Johnson.

I guess things just run in cycles. I was Raider Hater in the days when they were the team to beat.

Everyone in the division considered Oakland their main rival. The Raider's reputation for dirty play

was well earned and totally deserved. I'm kinda surprised ESPN spends time kicking these old dogs.

Must have been a slow news day.

The Raiders set the bar in professional football for many years causing many fans to dislike them.

Same thing happened to the Cowgirls and Pats when they were a their pinnacle.

Now we have new teams and players at the top of the pecking order and they, too, will be having those that do not really think they belong there are or jealous of their success.

Currently the Ravens are the top dog but really, who cares about the Ravens? Time will tell if the Ravens are for real or just a flash in the pan like the Saints. And the Ravens do not have the history of the Raiders nor the flashy players that brought attention to the Raiders style of football.

And don't forget the Cowgirls. There was a time when no team could beat Dallas. They had the players, beautiful cheerleaders, a great stadium atmosphere and were the leading team for NFL jerseys, caps, etc. Now look at Dallas. Jerry better hurry up and get Satan from Bamasux if he wants another NFL crown before he croaks.

So teams and players come and go. The teams move around and the players have no loyalty to any team - just mother money. So now I like the "jerseys" and really do not pay much attention to the players other than for the Mannings who I wish would lose every game they play.

Did I say that? Yep. I do not like my previous favorite team, the "Colts" because there are no horses in Indiana and they snuck out of Baltimore. I do like the Packers and Saints and even will pull for the Deadskins.

So when any talking heads start bashing any team or player (other than for the Mannings) I think "would these guys who are doing the talking ever be successful in the NFL?" Is this the best they can do with their reporting? I wonder if NCIS is on TV so I can change the channel.

The Raiders will be back. Give 'em time. Then you can listen to the reports of how the Raiders lucked out and won a lot of games they should not have with low level players. Just take it all in with a grain of salt. Unless it is negative news about the Mannings.

Only reason to watch da Raidahs is when the camera focuses on the fans in the stands in their goofy outfits.  But with Big Al gone they might be able to put together a good team in the future.  In today's NFL you have to have a quality QB, dunno if Pryor will be that QB, has a chance, but I have my doubts.

Seriously? You lump in three young players with a ton of life left in with veterans? not a fair comparison. And if I recall there are plenty of qb who never won a championship. Winning a Super Bowl is not a sign of a great qb as it is a great team. I mean by your "analysis" you should have added in Marino, Kelly etc...on your list.

Now to the original post, be an eagles fan and you get used to not feeling the love all the time....

I was lumping every "running" qb that has come into the league in the past decade or two, that ESPN has promised us would take the league by storm.  That style of play has been entertaining, but hasn't produced a championship.  Yeah, Marino never won the Super Bowl, but his style of qb wins them about every other year.

A better way would be any young qb who has some success rather than running QB. The difference is a mobile qb can last longer in the league because of their ability to keep plays alive when less mobile ones cannot.

The league is changing and while your standard pocket passer is winning titles the more mobile style is getting there more often and it is just a matter of time before they win with more regularity.

Don't forget that there was a time when passing was considered bad play too because running was the way to go m
