Dylan.747 Posted March 10, 2013 Posted March 10, 2013 I just picked up a 7'3" MH XFast tip Vendetta 2 lure weight 1/4 oz-1oz. This lure rating covers about everything in my tackle box. What other rod would I absolutely need? I don't use a whole lot of treble hooked baits so the tip is not the problem. Quote
Jaiden Posted March 10, 2013 Posted March 10, 2013 Do you own a spinning rod? They excel at lightweight baits. That's what else I'd get if I was in your position. Quote
Super User lmbfisherman Posted March 10, 2013 Super User Posted March 10, 2013 The Vendetta should be good as an all purpose rod, I'd also agree that you should get a Spinning rod for lightweights. Especially since you state you do not usually use treble baits. When you decide to start treble hook baits you can then look for a Medium powered rod. Quote

Global Moderator Mike L Posted March 10, 2013 Global Moderator Posted March 10, 2013 Well you're set for bottom contact, and agree a spinning set up would be a good compliment for finesse type baits. What I would do after that is a M or MH with a slower action that you can use for spinners, chatter's, on top, swim baits, soft jerk's... Not saying that what you have won't catch fish, but theres many more techniques that are better suited for a rod with slower action if you are so inclined. Mike Quote
Dylan.747 Posted March 10, 2013 Author Posted March 10, 2013 Thank you guys! Once I get the money, I will probably look into a 6'9" M with a moderate fast tip for cranks and spinners. Quote
Arv Posted March 10, 2013 Posted March 10, 2013 Depending on what you prefer throwing, either a M/M crankbait rod, spinning or casting set up, or a M/F-XF spinning set up for finesse presentations. I would opt for the second since I think it is more versatile and, IMO, more fun. Quote
