I'm headed out of town this weekend for a little fishing. I had picked up a few different plastics, one of which was the Rage Tail Eeliminator. Seems to me that this thing would be dynamite on a C-Rig, or maybe even swimming it right on or below the surface.

How do you guys rig these, and how fast do you fish 'em.

Also picked up another pack of Space Monkeys. Played with them a little last year, but I'm going to give them another chance.

This bait was killer for me last year on Pickwick on a C-rig!  You can swim it weightless or T-rig it in which I don't use anything over 1/4 oz.  Also, if you want to swim it with a weight, you can use an 1/8 oz tungsten weight, unpegged.  Also, try taking a 1/4 oz weight and pegging it with a bobber stopper about 12 inches up the line and swimming the bait through cover.  I usually use 4/0 EWG Superline Gammie hooks with the Eeliminator.  Hope this helps!

I did buy a few packs this year! And the C-rig sounds like a great summer pattern bait! I CAN'T WAIT!

Here's an illustration for rigging and also a link for use and techniques for fishing....Main thing is 4/0 EWG Superline hook and hook the bait centered correctly and without bowing the back upward....If you need any other info, just let me know ;)

By the way, it is a terrific 'Fast or Slow' retrieve top water bait. Slow, it wobbles and swims side to side. Faster retrieve, the tail slaps back and forth quickly and moves alot of water.

Big O, how easy do the Eeliminators cast on baitcasting gear?  I know the shads can be a bit tough to get much distance on if there's any wind, but still a great bait.  And I know the keel weighted deal, works good but when the grass gets real thick in the summer the weight always wants to pick up bits of grass.

All I use is Baitcaster gear and it throws fine weightless as is....it's slender and doesn't catch much wind. For quick retrieve topwater action, a 1/16 oz weighted hook is OK but not for slow retrieve because the belly weight kills the side to side action of the head.

IMO for top....no weight is best  ;)

I did give it a few casts this week, but wasn't able to hook into a fish. Not done trying it, just my partner was catching bass on senkos so I made the switched back.

I gave him a pack of space monkeys to try out, and he did pick up a few fish and one good 3 pounder on them.

However, stashed in the back of my soft plastics box, was a new pack of RT Shads. Tried them last year, with only a few fish. Decided to throw them out yesterday morning and was nailing bass on them by buzzing it over weeds in a few feet of water. Definantly going to be keeping this bait up towards the top of the box.

All of the above, however in addition I killed em on grass flats using a split shot rig with the 1/16 shot about 12-18in above the lure. Again, same concept as above, just a different weight. It would probably be better with a pegged bullet through the grass. I'm gonna try that this summer. Don't forget the Megastrike (seemed to work better than the original coffee scent IMO).

Paul. posted something on the eeliminator last fall that mentioned how he would hook the nose with a circle hook and add weight to them with a needleweight (I think he made his own by cutting the heads off of nails).  I tried to find the thread, but for some reason my searches aren't bringing it up.  If you can find it, or if Paul. can recap what he did that would probably give you a completely different idea.

I searched for that post too but it was last Fall so it's probably in storage....Here's a couple of links to posts Paul made on Rage Talk and I think they're similar to one he posted here ;) RageTalk is an info center on uses and techniques with RT products only and don't worry 'bout ckin' it out because all of our members are members here as well.

You'll also notice one of the locked threads at the top of the home page describes our relationship with BassResource

I think Paul's post was a Rage Talk exclusive,

or I just don't recall the post here. At any rate,

great idea. However, these are the wrong threads.

Could you find and resubmit the detailed

instructions Paul wrote-up, please? He had

pictures describing each step and the final

rigging as I recall.

Thanks!

Lots of good action on the Eel, but it barely holds up to more than a fish.  Seems like ANY act upon the bait will make it swim funny or do loops.

Usually, when rigged correctly with the 4/0 it does really well until you catch a fish.  Once you get any minor tear or blemish on the bait, good luck getting it to perform.   It is VERY delicate.  So far the only way I have got it to perform OK past one fish is when its being used as topwater.

I havn't tried the C-rig yet with it but I plan to this summer.
