I'll give you my personal observation.  I have fished on a boat with powerpoles.  When they are deployed, and you are fishing the back of the boat, they are out of the way, as far as casting goes.  The Talon has a pole which extends from the housing.  The housing(s) are always in the vertical position.

Having said that, I had no trouble fishing from the back, even with the Powerpoles in the upright position.

Having them deployed while fishing from the stern, and trying to sidearm casts under overhanging trees and branches, the Talon could be somewhat of an obstacle.  Fishing from the bow, they would not present that problem.

I have 2 Talons my Partner has 2 Power Poles.

Both are excellent products.

My Talons were under water for 2 days after retrieving them they were brushed off and worked like new. They are a bit nosier but the noise is not in the water and doesn't effect the fish Iv deployed them next to bedding fish and the fish wont move.

They dont extend out from the rear of the boat like PP and they seem to hold a bit stronger then the PP in my opinion. By going straight down theres less leverage.

Talons also have less too install no pumps just 2 wires, so if room is an issue you may want to consider that.

PPs do go down quietly and can be moved out of the way easier, personally Iv never had my Talons get in the way nor has anyone fishing in the back of the boat.

I think its up to you. Personally after seeing both in action I think its a coin toss.

I made it a point to fish in boats that had both these units before i made my decision. I went with power poles. I like that they move out of the way and imo, they hold better. If you use the jack plate brackets with the angled offset it gives the poles a really wide stance once deployed. plus they just look waaay cooler.....and we all know that is what really matters!

Power pole hands down. Had power pole on my previous boat and had zero issues with it, always stuck and held me in place 100% of the time. My partner has an 8ft talon on his rig and it was awesome when he first got it but now it'll hold about 95% of the time, depending what type of bottom you're on. There's a pin that goes from the fiberglass spike to the aluminum square shaft and sometimes it will get dirt/ sand in it and wont deploy fully. You have to retract and deploy again.

depends if you are going underneath low bridges...ever

Why?  You can lower the Power-Poles, but you can't with the Talons...at least not without taking time out from fishing.

I've been under many a low bridge with my Power-Poles; park it in my garage too, without any issues whatsoever.

The poles held me right in the middle of the Columbia river in heavy current last summer no problem.  That wide stance kept the boat from twisting in the ever-changing current patterns.

That was exactly what I meant by that.  Sorry should have been a little more clear. But ya if the water is high and your trying to sneak under a low bridge or something you are SOL with a talon. the power poles easily get outta the way.

I don't have any experience with Talons but my Power Poles have not failed me once in the 2 years I have had them.
