tbone1993 Posted March 9, 2013 Posted March 9, 2013 In order to throw an a-rig on my lake I can only use 3 hooks. What is the best way to rig these baits without a hook? If I use 1/8th ounce hooks/ heads will I need to put an 1/8th ounce weight on the other baits to balance the rig? What is the best way to go about this. Really isnt my rig of choice and I would rather not by the wrong equipment. Quote
Super User MarkH024 Posted March 9, 2013 Super User Posted March 9, 2013 Castaic makes a 3 arm rig. Quote
tbone1993 Posted March 9, 2013 Author Posted March 9, 2013 Castaic makes a 3 arm rig. I would rather have more baits but I will take a look at that. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted March 9, 2013 Global Moderator Posted March 9, 2013 Spinnerbait blades or get a 3 arm one with spinnerbait blades on the arms. Quote
tbone1993 Posted March 9, 2013 Author Posted March 9, 2013 I dont think the balance matters as much if I put the weighted jig heads on the bottom and use a keeper on the other baits Quote
Super User Felix77 Posted March 9, 2013 Super User Posted March 9, 2013 There are also dummy weights which you can tie on as well. Weight and no hook. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted March 9, 2013 Super User Posted March 9, 2013 you could clip on 2 spinnerbait blades. The flash will work BIG TIME! Quote
haydenf96 Posted March 18, 2013 Posted March 18, 2013 Put the swimbaits on a jig head and cut the visible hook Quote
AGOSS Posted March 18, 2013 Posted March 18, 2013 If you have the baits all the same weight the Rig will want to spin in the water, So for a keel weight use one1/4 oz head on the middle bait so it stays upright in the water. or you could just use smaller baits on the top if you are using a 5 or 7 wire rig Quote
Blues19 Posted March 18, 2013 Posted March 18, 2013 Spinner blades will make it like a giant spinnerbait. that would be awesome Quote
Super User Jig Man Posted March 18, 2013 Super User Posted March 18, 2013 We are only allowed three hooks here in MO so I put 2 small willowleaf blades on the top two arms. If you get blades too large the A rig will want to come to the top and act sort of like a buzz bait.. This pic is one that I sometimes use for white bass, thus the small baits. Note how little the willows are. Quote
