So when I came home for lunch my new bb1 had been delivered. So I hurried and mounted it up and then went to spool it real quick before I had to go back to work. Well it ended up being one of those Homer Simpson D'oh! moments. My cranking rod has micro guides on it. I fill 1/2 with 12# big game and then tie my Albright knot. As I'm spooling the knot gets stuck. I realize I missed one guide hole and had actually feed it through the tiny tiny hole in the foot of the guide. Yeah I know how the heck. So I cut and re tie my knot. I end up cutting the mainline and not the tag once finished. Cut and retie. I'm trimming the tag and end up getting the mainline again. Cut retie. Finally spool up and there's not as much left on the spool as I thought. Cut that off and throw away. Retie my knot and cut the mainline again. Cut retie. Finally spool up and soak with kvd l&l. A knot I've tied so many times gave me a big headache today. Don't rush things. Haha

I was just in a hurry so I could still have time to eat. Well that didn't work though. This one is the 5:1:1 but I have the 6:4:1 and 7:1:1 too. Lmk when you're ready. I have a guy who will do $110 shipped on the 6:4 or 7:1 until his supply runs out.

my dad tied on a jig couple of weeks ago cut the line and then tossed the jig over the side of the boat like he always does.....only he cut the main line instead of the tag end lol. I was rolling while he watched his jig sink to the bottom.

I think I would laugh too if I watched that happen. Being on the other side I would not be a happy camper. Haha

I have done it a number of times.  Jigs, spinnerbaits you name it.....only ONCE was it with a floating crank.

I haven't done it yet but I have a habit of tossing my bait in the floor and reeling it up. I have cut the wrong side before but by doing that I don't loose the bait over the side of the boat lol.

What makes the story funnier is last fall he got a jig out. Trimmed it all up where it looked good, put a trailer, repositioned it so it was nice and straight......then tossed it over the side of the boat......like he always does........without tieing it on.

Took a nice trout fishin trip last month, to Lake Taneycomo, with Long Mike and Bassnchris. Broke off a lot of three way drift rigs, so I had tied quite a few surgeon's knots during the day. After dinner i was showing Chris how to tie a back to back uni knot.

I should say I was trying to demonstrate this knot. What I actually did was try to tie a back to back surgeon's knot, which was a miserable failure. Four times in a row. Took me that long to figure out what I was doing wrong.

Chris was looking at me like, "oh yeah, I really want to pay attention to this knucklehead".

The best is when you cut the tag off after tying a jig, but you actually cut the mainline, and the jig drops into the lake.

I got all that beat....I caught a nice bass, reached into my pocket for my phone to take a picture, snapped a pic. Then threw my phone in the lake instead of the bass. All in front of a guy whom we affectionately call the "local idiot"..........I am now in serious contention for the title.

That would make you a shoe in for the "Plug Award" in my club.  I seriously can't stop laughing about this.

At least you didn't try dialing the fish.

Too funny!

I lost my phone a few years back, while fishing in the fall. I catapulted it off the lid of one of my boxes right over the side of the boat and into the drink. I haven't a clue how I didn't notice it there before opening the lid.

Last time out, tied the shaky head on my spinning reel, trim the "tag" go to stand up and watch the shaky head drift to bottom!

I have trouble threading line through regular guides without my reading glasses, so micros aren't an option. Much like gymnast sex, best left to the young guns. Thank you for the laugh.

I feel so much better after reading these.  I too have cut a jig to retie after catching a fish... layed my rod down for a minute, then picked up my rod and jig at the same time and threw my jig overboard to have a tight line to reel up before the next cast.  Well that jig didn't get casted again.
