RoushBasser Posted March 8, 2013 Posted March 8, 2013 Hey there everyone, just dropping by to grab any info you wanna share on fishing the Okeechobee and launching from the Harney Pond area. The family has a place in Melbourne and we are getting together to do some fishing! Any spots, baits, and any advice at all would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks!! I CAN NOT WAIT!!! Quote
H00kedOnBass Posted March 8, 2013 Posted March 8, 2013 From all the advice i have gathered for my own trip this Sunday, the best thing I've learned is definitely stick to natural colored presentations, watermelon seed, green pumpkin and even black, i was told work best. Topwater seems to be great for the mornings and flipping heavy cover in the afternoon if the sun is out. Im not familiar with where you going to be fishing or any of Lake O for that matter but I've done a lot of research on here and on the web. Also if you want to consider it i have also heard using live shiners is a guaranteed method to catch some real nice bass. Im renting a boat out of Clewiston this weekend hoping to have a successful day. Im not sure if you have a BassPro shops around you but what i did was go there and talk to as many employees there who have fished lake O before and got several different tips and good locations to check out. Either way good luck on your trip and ill give you a report on whats working for me and what isn't! Quote
BradGuenette Posted March 8, 2013 Posted March 8, 2013 Headed there tuesdayyyyy whooop whooop !! Quote
OkeechobeeAngler Posted March 8, 2013 Posted March 8, 2013 Red shad worms 7-10in. Rattletraps. Jig punchin or shiners. Quote
topwaterrob Posted March 9, 2013 Posted March 9, 2013 You also should make sure youre going to be using some sturdy line... I prefer braid. The lake has a ton of veggies to try to pull them fish through.... Quote
Gotfishyfingers? Posted March 9, 2013 Posted March 9, 2013 I'm going tomorrow but will be fishing the south side. Quote
RoushBasser Posted March 12, 2013 Author Posted March 12, 2013 For those of you who have been out there lately, what worked for you?? Quote
H00kedOnBass Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 Fished out of clewiston on sunday, had a bad day. Wind was blowing hard so had to stay in and nothing was working for me. Used everything from spro popping frogs, flukes, worms, gambler big EZ, traps, cranks even live shiners! I lost a decent one on my first shiner then caught a gar after with the same shiner. Then i could only get mudfish/bowfins so bite. Sun was on full blast, even tried flipping and even that left me empty handed. Good luck out there lol Quote
Gotfishyfingers? Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 I didn't fish the lake as intended. sorry no report from me. Quote
