kevfishin Posted March 8, 2013 Posted March 8, 2013 Anybody try the Airrus Nano Fusion rod? is the sensitivity like the G.Loomis NRX? Quote
HarrBass Posted March 8, 2013 Posted March 8, 2013 I just bought an Airrus Nano Fusion last week, and I was looking for opinions on the internet, because I really loved the rod.... I found this thread and wanted to add my opinion... There's several differences between these 2 rods. The Nano Fusion is a little heavier, but have more overall power on the backbone. The Nrx is lighter and the components, in my opinion, are better, but there's a lot less power reserve. On the sensitivity side, I think that the Nano Fusion is better then the NRX (by a good margin), the real difference is the carbon fiber handle, it's using some sort of megaphone technology, that may be just marketing, but the feeling is really incredible, you can feel every little bump, every little touch. Considering the price difference if you look for sensitivity, you should go for the airrus. Quote
BigMoneyGrip Posted March 8, 2013 Posted March 8, 2013 I was looking at the Nano Fusion but was turned off because it didn't have a hook keeper. I would have thought a $300 rod would have one. I also read where Airrus was coming out with more rods in the Nano Fusion line up. If these have the hook keeper, I'll be getting one. These rods have some unique features that I liike. I'm looking at the Lamiglas Infinity Bass now. Quote

It is a great sensitive rod but i am always looking for something more sensitive. Thank you for the info Quote
arrow135 Posted February 8, 2019 Posted February 8, 2019 Hi Minnow, I prefer NRX, I have a bad experience with company and the rods. I have a Spinning model of Airrus Stargate ASG691MLF-S 6'9" Medium Light Fast 1/16 - 3/8 4-8lb and I have a lot of problems with reel seat foregrip. You can see the photos, there are a lot of screw in foregrip, this matter causes touch plastic screew in fishing action and not touch de blank. The equilibrium is not good because the reel is rear, and the more important because there are only few 1/16 inch with contact reel with rod (in the front part) when set the hook in fishing action the reel move litte side to side. I contacted with the company and say me this is not a defective, for what I understand all rods have the same problem. Best regards, Quote
KP Duty Posted February 8, 2019 Posted February 8, 2019 Havent heard much from Airrus since Ken Whiting left. He had airrus at the forefront of rod technology (he's the man behind the nanofusion) and won the brand a few awards. I remember reading about customer service issues, but it's been years. Wonder if ol Ken is still in the game. I think he went to carrot sticks after airrus, but I could be wrong. Quote
arrow135 Posted February 14, 2019 Posted February 14, 2019 Dear Dink, I think you're right, I've heard the same. I talk with more Airrus Owner and all say me the company last years is go down quality in her rods and now the rods make in china. Best regars, Quote
Super User MickD Posted February 14, 2019 Super User Posted February 14, 2019 The rod shown above is the result of putting too much priority on weight and not enough on ergonomics. After using that rod all day, put an old full seat/full grip rod into the user's hands and he would think he was in heaven. Quote
arrow135 Posted February 15, 2019 Posted February 15, 2019 Hi MickD, I think the weight and ergonomics not are incompatible, only with a screw foregrip of half length and move this screen foregrip for more contact with reel seat solve this problem Best regards, Quote
BoydFishing79 Posted March 22, 2019 Posted March 22, 2019 I'm an Airrus fan so I may be biased, but I feel the company is being treated unfairly here. First of all, Airrus rods were always assembled in China, since the Ken Whiting era... the only short period of time in which they made them in the USA was around 2007-2008 when the brand was owned by Castaway and they were making, honestly, terrible rods. About the reel seat, I own several rods of several brand and all have different spaces for the reel, as there's no standard of foot lenght, I have no issues with my Stargates using a properly sized daiwas, also I'm very very impressed by the rod sensitivity while the weight is not that low (still a lot better than the old nano-fusion) Quote
