Oldbritguy Posted April 17, 2010 Posted April 17, 2010 I read somewhere in here that some guys spray liquid attractants in the bag where they keep their plastic lures. Does this really work, and what do you use? Quote
Koop Posted April 17, 2010 Posted April 17, 2010 I use JJ's magic as attractant / dye Megastrike attractant and BANG All work very well Quote
Super User eyedabassman Posted April 17, 2010 Super User Posted April 17, 2010 The ONLY two sents that I use are JJ's Magic and Megastrike! Quote
Gamec0cks5 Posted April 17, 2010 Posted April 17, 2010 Where do you get JJ's just through their website directly? Quote
Super User eyedabassman Posted April 17, 2010 Super User Posted April 17, 2010 Where do you get JJ's just through their website directly? YES, Just give him a call! Cool guy to talk to! Quote
Super User SoFlaBassAddict Posted April 17, 2010 Super User Posted April 17, 2010 The ONLY two sents that I use are JJ's Magic and Megastrike! x2 Great products. That BANG spray on scent that somebody else mentioned coats baits with a serious garlic odor...until they touch water when it all rinses off.... Quote
scrutch Posted April 17, 2010 Posted April 17, 2010 anyone ever fish JJ's on baits other than soft plastics? Quote
Oldbritguy Posted April 17, 2010 Author Posted April 17, 2010 I really wanted to know if you guys soaked the plastic lures in the bag, and let them absorb the scent - or just sprayed it on before casting. I'm sure I read some guy's post recently where he sprayed the whole bunch of lures in the bag and let them absorb the stuff. Cant remember what it was though? Quote
basser89 Posted April 17, 2010 Posted April 17, 2010 Haven't had the opportunity to get any JJ's yet. All I use is Mega Strike right now. You don't have to worry about it rinsing off in a cast or two either. Quote

I'm sure I read some guy's post recently where he sprayed the whole bunch of lures in the bag and let them absorb the stuff. Cant remember what it was though? You don't really need to soak JJ's. It's not a spray. You just dip however much of the lure you want into it and it permanently dyes/scents the bait. So you could dip a whole bag and put them back in the original packaging and they'd stay that way...well for a long time. It is some seriously potent stuff. JJ's and megastrike are two different beasts though. JJ's is garlic, lots of garlic along with a colored dye of your choice. Megastrike is some amino acid based attractant that you kind of slime over the lure (think toothpaste). It's good for like half an hour or something in the water Bobby says. If you're working the bait in thick grasses and stuff it comes off a little quicker. One tube of that stuff will last you for quite a while though. You only need to use a tiny bit of it to thoroughly cover a bait. Both of them are great products and will have a place in my tackle bags for years to come. Quote
Super User Hammer 4 Posted April 18, 2010 Super User Posted April 18, 2010 I use JJ's and megastrike. The neat thing about the Megastrike, besides the attractent part, is it keeps plastic's Soft. I also use it on my soft swimbaits, as they need to have good action when swiming..Now, IF Bobby would ever get that Trout scent made... Quote
Bamajoker Posted April 18, 2010 Posted April 18, 2010 Where do you get JJ's just through their website directly? YES, Just give him a call! Cool guy to talk to! You not joking lol. I order a bottle of clear and they sent me chartreuse, i called and talked to JJ lol, Very nice guy, let me keep the chartreuse and shipped me clear. Quote
flippin and pitchin Posted April 18, 2010 Posted April 18, 2010 I know you said spray on BUT, Smelly Jelly is the deal. It works in all water temps and lasts. In the NW it rules. Quote
Jacob Robinson Posted April 18, 2010 Posted April 18, 2010 Personally i have never seen a difference in using scents. I guess im an odd ball. Quote
Super User Big Bait Fishing Posted April 18, 2010 Super User Posted April 18, 2010 the best scent/lube is Pro Cure super gel !!! it is the best for swimbaits and works great on crankbaits , worms , jigs , etc.. the scent is made from real bait and stays good on your lure very good http://www.pro-cure.com/gel.html Quote
santacruz Posted April 18, 2010 Posted April 18, 2010 Instead of buying scents in a bottle make your own and soak your plastics in it.Here's one take vegatable oil some garlic and salt put in a plastic bag then put your plastics in it let it soak.Turns out just as good has spary and stays on longer cause it soaks into your baits. Dockhead Posted April 18, 2010 Posted April 18, 2010 On occasion I pour Fish Formula into bags of soft plastics, especially if I know I will be using a certain product on a trip. I am not totally convinced that it truly soaks into the baits though, so I don't do it on a reg basis. Just figure it can't hurt. Although it can be tough to screw said baits onto a shaky head-slippery! For normal use I use Smelly Jelly (Bass Feast flavor lately) or Megastrike. Quote
Super User iceintheveins Posted April 19, 2010 Super User Posted April 19, 2010 I use smelly jelly sticky liquid in craw or bass feast. The jelly stays on better but you have to keep it in a cooler or it will melt and ruin. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted April 19, 2010 Super User Posted April 19, 2010 The ONLY two sents that I use are JJ's Magic and Megastrike! Me too! I like to presoak jig trailers in JJ's Magic. For all other soft plastics, MegaStike is what I carry. 8-) Quote
