I am also ready to have to start putting on sun block and bug spray.  Good indication it is warm enough for active bass.  Also, love getting out at sunrise for some hungry bass searching for breakfast.  I have actually said "good morning!" before I released them.  :-)

Well, it was early Oct., the last time I was on the water and I have 3 feet of snow in my front yard and 24" of ice on the lakes, I'm looking forward to a 2 week tip to Ky. lake in mid April. I'm tired of tackle tinkering, reel cleaning, talking about it, dreaming about it, and fighting the bait monkey. I just want to go fishing. And by the way, when I get back from the 2 weeks in KY. the pre spawn bite on the Mississippi (pools 9-10) will just be heating up. My wife is going to be sorry she keeps telling me to get out of the house. Color me GONE for the summer.

I can't wait till the Bass Resource Roadtrip. I feel like a kid waiting for Christmas. I just want to hook into one of the big Smallmouth that they have there and see old friends and meet new ones. I can't wait.

I'm looking forward to getting back to fishing around here in general.  But the thing I'm really looking forward to is the Road Trip.  I don't even mind the 800 bucks (guesstimate) it will cost to tow the boat round trip.  Based on the last trip to Pickwick, and the current reports, it's a bargain.

Open water and 40 degree water temps. Still frozen here with 32 degree water temps directly below the locks. :cry4: Hopefully no more than 2 weeks away until I can fish.

Partying with the big girls...they know how to throw down. Opening weekend on my home lake is in two weeks...it has been closed since October. That means mag lizards, stumps the size of your easy chair, and 10 hour fishing days. Can't wait!!!

I share your heartache. It seems every day off I have falls on a freezing day. I'm constantly checking the 10-day which is a joke and winter seems like it will never leave. At least there is a 60 degree day this weekend, although I will be at work...

Im looking forward to all the northerners going home and the lake being less crowded as it gets hotter.

Loodkop where do you live? Do you mean top water frogs? If so, that's awesome in the colder weather!!! I wish I could catch one on a frog popper here in NC in the winter. :-)

Sorry for not replying sooner. I'm in South Africa and it seems as if there is a 2/3 week period in early autumn when my local lakes have a real frog frenzy. Of course you can catch them on other stuff at the same time but why? As to frog in winter I always have one tied on and if I feel the fish may have moved into the weeds I will work it very slowly. It gave me big bass honors in a club tournament in July last year which is our coldest month.

my first trip of the year to Smith Mountain Lake. setting up on the dock in the evening, tying up my live bait rigs on some rods and a couple lures on other rods. ill crack open that first ice cold budweiser of the night, get the radio tuned in on the classic rock station and just take in the sites around me. eventually ill start with casting around the artificials for awhile. usually ill have a shallow diving crank or top water tied on one rod, and some sort of soft plastic like a super fluke or kinami flash or one of the various rage tails. after awhile ill set them down, and put some bait(nightcrawlers, minnows, chicken livers, shrimp or cutbait) on some of my other rods and get 2 or 3 casted out to start with. its just so relaxing sitting back waiting for a bite, taking in the atmosphere and pounding some budweisers. at this point i dont have a care in the world other than what im doing at the moment. not worried about work or home or anything else. its so refreshing. sometimes i will even fall asleep out there in my chair and wake up to a rod or two bouncing with hooked fish or with slack line that has a fish on the other end lol...

I'm excited for the weather to get nice.  There is currently 2 feet of ice on my favorite lake and we just got 8 inches of fresh snow this past Tuesday   It's supposed to rain this weekend and hit 40 for the first time this year so it won't be too much longer (hopefully).  Other than that i'm looking forward to using my new flipin n pitchin setup, experimenting with zoom z hogs in heavy milfoil, and helping my 4 year old catch her first fish.

Since November I've laid in a huge stock of new tackle, three reels and two rods. We still have snow out the yazoo up here in northern Canada and bass doesn't open until June. The end of June.

By the time bass opens I'll be like a recently released convict with his first woman.

So I'm just looking forward to it being close to bass season.
