I am getting ready to stock up for spring and i want a new rod.I am currently using a Shimano Sahara reel and I mainly use crank baits/senkos/top water/spinners.I am pretty much looking for a good all around rod and since i only fish from the shore i wont carry more then one rod unless i am fishing on a boat.I like gloomis because of the warranty, and the overall good reviews that i hear from fellow fisherman. The max i will pay is $400, but  would be nice if you guys can give me  some low end to high end prices though :)

You like the loomis warranty? In my eyes there are way better warranties out there, Dobyns $60 no hassle. Most Shimano dealers offer over the counter. Ever since Loomis has changed there warranty, now being $100 and you ship it to them, unless you plan on getting a NRX then the wildcard program comes into play with a free one time replacement, no questions asked.

With $400 you may be able to find one of the previous model rods under your price range. I would be trying to find a SJR 783.

Something else to look at would be a Dobyns dx743SF coming in at $329, you can find it even cheaper if you put in some work and make a few calls. Wonderful thing is the $60 no hassle replacement policy.

Xpeditor Service (which is not a warranty but folks seem to think it is)

- Moving from $50 to $100 charge

- is only good for "inline production rods. Excludes discounted models, all blanks..."

- is now a one time per rod offer only applicable to the original purchase item

Rods not covered by the Xpeditor program will be subject to the standing limited warranty

New NRX Rods will have a "Wild Card". Basically once you buy the rod, you send in a registration and copy of receipt. Shimano sends you a "wild card". If the NRX ever breaks, you take in the broken rod and card to an authorized NRX retailer and they exchange for a new one. Only good one time. Only redeemable on retail and cannot be sent in to Loomis. Cannot be substituted for a different model.

The GL2's have the wild card too

Yep, I have the wild cards for the NRX and GL2.

I personally like dobyns more than loomis, they also have a better price point and have an amazing warranty

All Loomis rods have a lifetime warranty, with a $20 processing fee plus your cost of shipping.

New generation rods, basically all the split grip rods, have the Wild Card program.

The older rods that have been replaced by the new generation rods have no Expeditor or Wild Card, only the warranty.

Wild Card and Expeditor are for the same thing, if you step on the rod, shut in a car door, etc. Loomis is gradually replacing all of the older rods with the new generation rods. NRX, GL2 and most of the GLX line have the Wild Card. IMX is next. Once they complete the generation changes, the expeditor program will cease to exist.

This isn't entirely correct.

Their warranty as stated is that they will cover any manufacturers defect free of charge, you pay shipping.  That's a lifetime warranty.

Now, if you break the rod being a knucklehead- They will replace it for $100.

Dobyns- They say they'll cover the rod for defects, but I've never had that happen, even when a reel seat broke on one of my DX795.  The $60 was paid by me to get my rod back.  A friend of mine, same thing on a different rod.  Me, again on a Mike Long Swimbait that broke an inch above the handle- they said it broke because I applied too much pressure.  I was casting a 3/4 ounce SPRO BBZ Shad.

If you're going to give warranty information, do so correctly, and unbiased.  They both have advantages and drawbacks.

Dobyn's replaced one of my Extreme rods under warranty, zero cost to me. They even paid the shipping.

And Loomis only does the $100 deal on rods still covered by the Expeditor service, which is precious few of them these days.

Just wondering how many G. Loomis's you own or how many different G Loomis models  have you fished.
