Super User *Hootie Posted March 5, 2013 Super User Posted March 5, 2013 Fishing University is just a 1/2 hr. commercial. Just my opinion. Don't know why I watch it, but I never miss an episode.....lol Hootie Quote
0119 Posted March 5, 2013 Posted March 5, 2013 I only watch the English shows on WFN and The Fishing Adventurer. Even Larry Dahlberg has become a product *****. Quote
Bass Dude Posted March 5, 2013 Posted March 5, 2013 I only watch the English shows on WFN and The Fishing Adventurer. Even Larry Dahlberg has become a product *****. I like the english guy that does the 24-hour fisherman. They give him goals that he has to accomplish within a 24 hour time frame...pretty cool. Fishing is weird over there....lots of farm pond or man-made lake fishing. Interesting to see their tactics though. Quote
0119 Posted March 5, 2013 Posted March 5, 2013 I gotta give it to them, they make a fishery out of catching whatever they can even down to what we would consider bait. I enjoy Matt Hayes too. He also did Wild Fisherman, an entire season of shows in Mozambique. He added over 30 different species of fish to his "life list". Quote
Super User Darren. Posted March 5, 2013 Super User Posted March 5, 2013 Yeah. Guess there's no way these folks could put on the shows if they didn't have the money. Unless I'm in to the product being hawked, I either turn the channel or ignore. Ain't no baitmonkey gonna get me thru the TV screen. No way, man. I mean, right? Quote
TrapperJ Posted March 5, 2013 Posted March 5, 2013 Agree on fishing university, but i enjoy it every week. Charlie and Ray always get a laugh or two out of me but in a way i kinda like the one kind of lure only format. Then i feel after the show i gotta have that lure too. I like to see how many times Ray can crack a joke about sabotaging Charlies boat, or doing those "little" things Charlie doesn't know about to get those few extra MPH over him. Quote
SudburyBasser Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 Complaining about a fishing show trying to hawk product is like being disappointed a stripper only likes you because you bought a dance. 2 Quote

Super User SirSnookalot Posted March 6, 2013 Super User Posted March 6, 2013 Only time I see a fishing show these days is when I'm channel surfing, I either surf right by it or watch for just a few minutes. I happen to catch a few episodes of FLW, how I lasted 5-10 minutes was just an indication of my boredom at the moment. I'm seeing these guys whooping and hollering like they had a 90 lb sailfish on the line with a flyrod. What they had were fish that barely were 2 lbs and dragging them in 6 or 7 seconds, I looked my watch. I admire their exuberance as they are competing to earn money, but as a spectator........... Super User Bankbeater Posted March 6, 2013 Super User Posted March 6, 2013 I use to watch a lot of fishing shows. Now I read the magazines. Quote

Wasn't complaining, just commenting, Don't do strippers, And don't buy dances. Never actually been that hard up....lol Hootie Quote
Super User *Hootie Posted March 6, 2013 Author Super User Posted March 6, 2013 Never drank a beer either huh...? Very perceptive. No, don't drink, don't smoke, {anything}, and don't do drugs. I'm a clean machine. And I find, that annoys the crap out of a lot of people. However, when it comes to buying fishing tackle, I am hopelessly addicted....lol Hootie P.S. Drinking isn't mandatory for survival, at least for me. 1 Quote

TNBassin' Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 I really enjoy watching MLF, Timmy Horton Outdoors, and that fishing commandos show where 2 guys go out on a lake they've never fished and try to put together a pattern. Quote
TrapperJ Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 What channel is Timmy Horton and Fishing commandos on? That fishing commandos sounds pretty cool. Quote
TNBassin' Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 Both are on the Outdoor Channel. Commandos could be better, but I really like the idea behind it. Quote

Super User Felix77 Posted March 7, 2013 Super User Posted March 7, 2013 Shows like the Bass Pro's gives me a bunch of information. Zona's is for entertainment. If I get something from it then fine. The other shows I watch just because it's freakin' cold outside and I can't go fish. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted March 7, 2013 Super User Posted March 7, 2013 I like MLF, Hunt for Big Fish, and Lunkerville. Quote
0119 Posted March 7, 2013 Posted March 7, 2013 Lunkerville for sure. He has a way of making you feel good. Its also interesting to see how you guys fish up there. You sure have alot of boat safety laws and seasonal rules to contend with. 1 Quote
