Smiths.R Posted April 16, 2010 Posted April 16, 2010 I am hoping that Road Warrior will respond to this. He seems to be the authority on this lure. (I tried the search...) I was getting bit like NUTS today on this little guy. Unfortunately I lost the majority of them. I have a feeling my hooks were to small. I think I was using a 2/0. Is that to small? I didn't even have them skin hooked...was the problem me, or the hook? Thanks! Quote

Rusty Shackleford Posted April 16, 2010 Posted April 16, 2010 Do you rig with the 'tentacles' towards the point or the eye of the hook? Quote
Super User Raul Posted April 16, 2010 Super User Posted April 16, 2010 Do you rig with the 'tentacles' towards the point or the eye of the hook? You can rig it either way, but in theory the bait should be rigged by inserting the hook in between the tentacles, that way it sinks away from you. Quote
Smiths.R Posted April 16, 2010 Author Posted April 16, 2010 I was rigging it backwards, and the bass were killing it...I just had a tiny hook on there I guess. Thanks for the help guys! Quote

Push the hook completely throught the bait and then stick the point of the hook back into the bait just under the "skin". Quote
Smiths.R Posted April 17, 2010 Author Posted April 17, 2010 Went out and got some 4/0 hooks. Slid those baby's in and all I could think was how I"m going to SLAY the bass tomorrow... I'd be out right now, but I have to go to a gala with my wife. Free food and drinks though. I'd still rather be bass fishing. Quote
