Is it just me or does that New Gill pattern on the Northstar Swim jig look awesome!?

I don't know about the fish, but it sure looks good to me!

I mostly hop and drag a jig, but explain these swim jigs to me. I've heard you throw them and fish them like a spinnerbait. True?

True. A swim jig is basically a spinnerbait without the blades. Like to throw mine around thick grass. That New Gill color really looks nice! I also like the look of Bull Gill. Both look killer for spawn but I can't find any...

One of North Stars Pro Staff guys swears by that jig. I've never used it, but it's on my next order

That blue gill color would definitely work in my opinion. And something in a rainbow trout color because the Game & Fish Commission is always stocking rainbows.

Some styles and colors are available on TW, but the best selection is on the website. Last fall there were a few different sales they had for new products, free shipping, etc... and I loaded up.

I have several Bull Gill in my tackle box and I'm going to experiment with a swim bait trailer this Spring.  I have a feeling it's going to be absolutely killer.

Correct. I always have a 3/8oz New Gill swim jig tied on and it accounts for at least 75% of my fish ever year...There isn't a blue gill imitation out there like this jig.

Your not helping my wallet come next sale man lol

I've never been so set on one color in my life, New Gill is the real deal. If the forage in your lakes have any kind of sunfish/bluegill or even perch for that matter you need to throw this jig. Like you said work it like a spinnerbait and don't be afraid to pump your rod a few times during the retrieve and also kill the bait and let it sink around key pieces of cover. These 2 things get me a lot of bites throughout the year.

NS jigs catch me alot of fish. But I have never seen a panfish of any sorts in my neck of the Woods with those colors. Green and or gray with dark orange bellies. That's what the sunnies look in my lakes. Not saying it won't work because I know y'all are successful with them. I just have to have that initial visual confidence in a bait color before I would ever think of trying.

Now Kentucky blue grass and bama craw, those produce very well for me.

Might grab a couple new gill flip and swims with my next order just to try based on yalls results.

Vinny, what trailer are you using of that 3/8 new gill swim jig?

Worry not young Jake, there is a southern bream color on its way to the photographers right now, for all you southern guys that have never seen a true northern spawning male gill, Bull GIll and New Gill are about as close as I can get. Bull gill is a little more muted and probably truer to the actual thing, New Gill is louder brighter and stands out, and yes both of them produce, I might get flamed here but I actually like Bull GIll better but throw both equally as much, New Gill gets the nod in any kind of water with a stain to it, the bass can see it better and in turn it gets bit better.

And for those that always want to match the hatch, why? I want my bait to be close but at least stand out from the crowd, if they can see it easier and pick it out from the crowd, I just automatically assume it will get bit more often, that is just my thinking on it anyway.

Thanks for the reply. I was aware that they were on TW but they weren't in stock. That will be on my "to buy" list when they do come back in. Spawn is coming up here in Virginia.

There is a shipment on the way to them right now, some New Gill flip and swims were in there I believe, I can't remember if there was New Gill swim jigs or not, but anyway we will be shipping them more by the end of the week. Otherwise you can order from the website also.

I have one tied on right now if preparation for throwing it on my next outing planned for next week.

Unless there is an advantage that trends in the population through reproduction,

in the natural world things that "stand out" get killed and eaten. I want my lures and

baits to stand out a little, too!

I have some bull gill swim jigs that I have not even used yet, but they look awesome. My only complaint is its not available in the flip and swim :(.

Southern bream color huh? I'm very interested!!

Any time frame on the release?
