I fish from shore so i am a "cover fisherman" and mainly use squarebill crank baits.

I'm a power fisher and because I fish from the bank I try to get my lure way out to cover that's hard for most bank fishermen to get too.  So I throw heavy bomb lures including big senkos and crankbaits.  Someone mentioned run and gun, that's very much what I do.

 

This year I'm going to slow it down and work on pitching and flipping hoping not to scare the fish off with my usual kamikaze lure presentation.

Several years ago you could argue that I was a finesse fisherman. I hated when my friends called me that. To me it meant that I was narrow minded in my approach to fishing. I have worked hard to become an overall versatile fisherman and now I have confidence in a lot of different techniques. My home lake is an offshore structure lake so for the past three years I've been working to become proficient at being that guy out in the middle of the lake that everyone looks at funny as they speed by. 

 

I love fishing docks and have won several tournaments over the years doing so. 

 

I don't like fishing close to shore. I can do it but I'm always looking for those spots that most people miss.

I love skipping docks too. When they are under docks, a good "skipper" can get a big bag quick. You would be surprised how many accomplished anglers can not skip that lure very far or way in the back of a dock. Lake Gaston is FULL of docks and it is a necessity here. If you can skip a dock, you are at an advantage here.

I can do other techniques and map reading and willingness to get off the bank and getting smoked a few times, has made me a better offshore fisherman. But i still love skippin, pitchin and punching as my favs.

I'd describe myself as a power fisherman first with deep water as my forte, however when conditions dictate (spawn, cold front, etc.) I do like to work visible cover in shallower water. I do fish a lot of shallow water structure and cover, but mostly when I have a partner (wife) in the boat.

Thats how i fished before i had my kayak and i still like to spend some days fishing like that on the banks.  Best tactic for that is to find a nice cove where you can hit the shoreline in front of you

95% of the time I am flipn&pitchn laydowns and chunk rock as I believe thats where big fish truely live. The rest of the time is all the other techniques but drop shotting is my #1 backup tactic.

In s.w. Fl. almost all the freshwater is man made, even the natural lakes have been scoured by machine into a bowl.  Sometimes theres a box cut ledge, otherwise no contoured structure.  So Im a visable cover angler.  Skipping docks and under 10ft. of over hanging Brazilian Pepper.  Commercial runoff from golf courses usually over fertilize's the bottom in fiberous algae so bottom bouncing is hopeless.  Its 95% topwater.

Frogger. I like that. I just got some Fighting frogs for flipping/ pitching. Just need a finesse froggy for dropshot and I will be the Compleat Frogger!

The Big Baits plastics?  Uhhhhh, yeah.  Those are killer in the water willow up here on Oneida.

Same here. My favorite methods are "power fishing" crankbaits and spinnerbaits and crawling a t-rig or a jig through cover.

I like to fish jigs and tubes around offshore structure, and offshore cover.  I also like to go around and just look at the lake with the fishfinder to see what is there.

Deep structure fishing is my favorite - I could drag a jig or a dropshot all day. Just fascinating to me. I also really enjoy crankbaiting in all parts of the water column - shallow or deep. Squarebills shallower (under 10 ft), moderate divers or deep cranks. I know I'll likely get blasted for this again, but I really dislike dock fishing and/or other shallow shoreline visible cover.

 

Smallmouths are by far my favorite of the two bass species here in WI, so that likely explains a good deal of why I like to do what I do.

As long as there is a jig bite i live and die by the jig shallow or deep. I fish alot of different baits but the jig is my favorite.

I love creek channels, of course since I am a bank beater I only have a few options depending on the lake I am at,  because of my lack of an anti sink device, cover for me is where its at.  If I had a boat I would love to be out in the middle of the water finding the spots in deeper water.  A lake near where I grew up has a awesome cove, with a creek channel that has a long flat that cuts into the bank, I have seen numerous big fish in less the a few inches of water underneath these cuts  .  I like fishing wood be it submergent or above water cause I can use some of my favorite lures around it and still catch fish..

I am comfortable fishing the bank out to the deepest water in the lake, and everything in between. Laydowns, grass holes, docks, rocks, points, humps, sunken brush, mats, drop-offs, pads, ditches, culverts, channels, seawalls, bridges, cat tails, boat ramps, sail boats, weed lines, stumps, misc. "junk" in the water, and where ever else bass live, I will fish.

Those are the ones. Not to many people use them in my area so I'm doing quite well on them.
