Super User MCS Posted June 26, 2013 Super User Posted June 26, 2013 Yeah he is. He always starts slow and picks it up later on but these blown saves are ridiculous. I know a guy can't be perfect but 4 out of 5 is pretty bad especially after he went on that little tirade after the a loss when he said people need to do their jobs and not make mistakes. Johnson on the O's had a period like this earlier, Paplbon will be ok. But when will players learn when they call out a team mates it is Murphy's law they will implode. Quote
Super User flyfisher Posted June 26, 2013 Super User Posted June 26, 2013 This is true but it still sucks to stay up late to watch Cliff Lee pitch a pretty outstanding game only for papelbon and the bullpen to lose it.  I guess it comes with the territory of being a Philadelphia sports fan  Quote
Super User Gone_Phishin Posted June 26, 2013 Author Super User Posted June 26, 2013 All i have to ask is what the crap is up with Papelbon!!!! Â Dude is a save blowing machine. Â The Phils need him to be a save getting machine to maximize his value should they decide to shop him next month. Quote
Super User flyfisher Posted June 26, 2013 Super User Posted June 26, 2013 man don't get me all worked up on that one....I know they had a semi fire sale last year but that was more to get rid of contracts so they could at least get something in return. Â I still feel like they are only a few pieces away from being a good team. Â I wonder what they would be like if they kept Pence and Victorino to pair up with Dom Brown in the outfield.... 1 Quote

It would have been awesome to have kept him. I was ticked they didn't to be honest. Ben Revere is a joke, he can swipe a bag but just doesn't hit well. Hopefully over time he can blossom into a Carlos Gomez type player with more than one tool, granted the power may never show up in Revere but hey atleast hit and score would be nice. Quote
Super User flyfisher Posted June 26, 2013 Super User Posted June 26, 2013 revere was touted as a high average hitter, which he is startign to show a little bit but he has negative power. I think he has hit one extra base hit this sseason and his OF play is horrible. The reason he was known for all the highlight reel grabs is because he never takes a good line to the ball and with his blinding speed he makes up for it to make a spectacular play which really could have been avoided.  And he might as well be throwing underhand to reach the cutoff man.... 2 Quote
Super User flyfisher Posted June 27, 2013 Super User Posted June 27, 2013 So let me ask you guys since you are obviously knowledgable in baseball...me and a buddy ahve been arguing over Hamels. He says he is a bum and not an ace. I argue that while he is not an Ace he is still a solid #2 pitcher and has been plagued by horrible run support this year as can be seen by 9 games where he has let up 3 or fewer runs and still lost the game.  So i guess the question is would you want Hamels on your respoective teams ( and not fantasy either lol ) ? Look at jason hammel with a 5 era and 7 runs per game in support has 3 times as many wins as ol king cole. He, cole, has had a bad start for every 3 good ones( I know this he is on my fantasy team lol yesterday wasn't his best) and I agree he is a number 2 or solid 3Deffinitely not a bum....a bum is Tim lincecum or Roy Halladay lol 1 Quote
Super User flyfisher Posted June 27, 2013 Super User Posted June 27, 2013 What is funny too is this same guy makes excuses for Lee and i said well last year when Lee wasn't getting any run support you never said he was a bum and honestly when Lee is off he is really off. Of course i may be a bit biased because i drove up to philly from VA to see the playoff game agains the cardinals where Lee blew a 4 run lead and basically cost them the series.....i still think they would have won it all if they won that game.  Anyways.....i shouldn't get myself angry this early in the workday Quote

Super User Gone_Phishin Posted June 29, 2013 Author Super User Posted June 29, 2013 Cory Hart is out for the year. The real bummer is with him in a contract year, and the Crew likely to be sellers next month, a NY Yankees/Crew trade is not happening...with Tex out for the season and all.  http://sports.yahoo.com/news/milwaukee-1b-corey-hart-213127317--mlb.html Quote
Super User MCS Posted June 29, 2013 Super User Posted June 29, 2013 Yeah couple folks had been taking turns keeping hart on the DL but as news got worse and worse he finally got dropped lol. Sad to hear he was a good player and the crew needs him not sure u can live and compete with a poor mans Carlos Pena in Francisco. What happen to Gammel he is still hurt? Hart is probably goning to land a 1 yr on the cheap or re-sign if the crew thinks he has something left. but i would be surprise if he didnt quietly have a good yr for who ever. Lohse was a great pickup for y'all, too bad gallardo tanked this year. That would been a nice 1-2 punch there Quote

A rough season getting rougher, I really expected more from the Brew Crew this year.   Yea, with the third worst record in baseball it's been a crummy year. Hopefully they can make some good trades later this month an restock the system. Super User MCS Posted July 3, 2013 Super User Posted July 3, 2013 Feldman and some guy to the O's and Arrieta and Strop to the Cubbies. I like Arrieta, he could strike em out, he could also walk em too. I remeber one of my last O's games a 10 K 2 run performance agdinst thr yanks that went extra innings. Dunno if they game up on him too early or not but guess Feldman is doing it now, for this season at least. Side note. Can't help but see these guys are from showalters rangers days. So buck see something in him like Davis and hunter....I hope Quote
Super User flyfisher Posted July 3, 2013 Super User Posted July 3, 2013 The next three series for the Phillies will determine who is going to be dealt....pirates, braves the nationals. Part of me wants them to lose all the games to put me out of my misery but i have a strange feeling they are going to win every series and keep that small glimemr of hop i still have alive. They are better than the stinking Braves!  On a side note did you see Dutch Dalton had surgery for brain tumors? Sad man, supposed to be a successful surgery. Prayers for him. He was a good guy. Him and Wild Thing lol the Mullets LIVE! LOL Quote
Super User flyfisher Posted July 3, 2013 Super User Posted July 3, 2013 Yeah Dutch was awesome and all those guys from the early 90's were too. Talk about a rag tag bunch of players who were as close as you can get to winning it all. I was even lucky enough to go to a world series game that year too....they lost 15-14 but hey it's still fun Quote

Super User flyfisher Posted July 3, 2013 Super User Posted July 3, 2013 Don't forget kruk and dykstra too although dykstra pretty much went nuts from all the roids I think Kruk was highly underrated too....career .300 hitter and traded his number to a rookie for a case of beer, can't beat that!!!! 1 Quote

LOL that is what was so great about that team, they were so real working man blue collar. We all could relate to them. He and williams aren't bad to listen to, like McCarver would someone please get him a muzzle or a personality, on their respective color/commenting gigs.  Nah I didn't forget them. I was just remembering the lesser names.  Yeah Dykstra did go off the deep end, me and a friend follow his escapades. Sad. Quote
Super User flyfisher Posted July 3, 2013 Super User Posted July 3, 2013 Mccarver.....sucks and so does Matthews really. I think kruk and Williams actually do a pretty good job of analysis which I think comes from not being a stud and working hard and seeing how things go from that perspective. They also aren't homers either. If you want some bad broadcasters though listen to the nationals.....I have to mute them when they are on. Quote
