Super User AK-Jax86 Posted August 14, 2013 Super User Posted August 14, 2013 ^ don't get me started on Harper. IMO he is a punk, I respect his game but not a fan of him as a man Quote
Super User flyfisher Posted August 14, 2013 Super User Posted August 14, 2013 Harper is a punk and his game is slightly above average. Â He is a flat out dumb ball player and talent only takes you so far in the league. Â I used to say i would like him if he was on the phillies but after his stupidity this season i don't even think that is the case anymore. Â I hope washington gives him an A-roid type contract and it hurts them financially for a loooong time ala the texas rangers. Â Like i stated before, the nationals got on their high horse last year and thought they would be back in the playoffs so they elected to mismanage strasburg's innings and now they are paying the price. Â Ask Cal Ripken how long you can go without seeing the world series after going what, when he was a rookie? Â The nationals heads got way to big way to fast and it is showing. Â Â Anyways.....anyone have an idea of where halladay is going to go next year? Â I heard on sports radio he is starting his rehab assignment and he says he hasn't felt this good in years. Â Part of me actually thinks the phillies could be right back in it if they sign halladay and he is 80% of normal and they pick up a little offense in the free agent pool. Â I am liking what i am seeing from Asche and Ruff now that they are getting some playing time and they are both really young players. Â The NL east is by no means strong and while the braves are running away with the division, if you take away their stellar start and the current run they are pretty much a .500 team who is benefiting fro ma weak division. Super User flyfisher Posted August 15, 2013 Super User Posted August 15, 2013 I would love to see him in the phillies pinstripes again next year but i can't blame the guy if he leaves. He came to philly to win a championship and came close but no dice so if he left to go to a contender, outside of the NL east, i wouldn't be that upset.  Even with a mediocre offense with hamels, lee and halladay the phillies could do alright and be right in the hunt if they can get into the playoffs.....one can dream. 2 Quote

Super User flyfisher Posted August 15, 2013 Super User Posted August 15, 2013 I was perusing the standings today jsut to see exactly how bad the phillies are....and yes they are really that bad. I also noticed that there is a seriously good potetial to have multiple 100 game winning teams this year.  There have only b een three teams since 2008 to notch 100 wins and only the yankees won it all in 2009 the year they did it. In 2005 the cards had 100 wins and the white sox had 99 but that is the closest it has come since 2004 when the yankees and Cardinals eclipsed the 100 win mark and in 2003 when 3 teams met the mark.  So after all that i guess having multiple 100 win teams isn't super rare but it has been quite a few years since it has occurred. Pit, the best staff in all of ball....Runs allowed they are wouldn't be there if not.....Cleveland, Boston who sucked so bad last year with players like Nava, Carp and a resurgent Lackey and Bucholz. Arizona and baltimore, their young guys have maintained, and freaking KC royals are over 500 after the allstar break! get outta town! LOL Quote
Super User flyfisher Posted August 15, 2013 Super User Posted August 15, 2013 I will be pulling for pittsburgh this year since obviously my phillies are jacked up. I hope the braves implode......again. I wouldn't mind seeing a Pittsburgh indians WS 1 Quote

The rays have also been a favorite to win big for a while, they have filthy talent, cobb, moore and price rivals our hamels, halladay and lee. Thrown in hellikson and Torres. they are thin on Offense though. The NL is hard, I don't really like any other team, D backs maybe, Reds are good too. Quote

38 Super Fan Posted August 16, 2013 Posted August 16, 2013 The whole NL is tough to figure, I keep waiting for the Pirates to implode, but I don't think that's gonna happen. Granted, I'm still skeptical of them winning the central. No team looks dominant in the NL, it will be interesting to see how it all plays out. LA may be the best, but I really have no idea.  I thought the Reds were gonna fall apart when the Cards hammered them, and they fell to 7 games back. About a week or so later they're only 2.5 games back. That's the thing with the Reds, you put teams like the Cubs in front of them, and they'll destroy them, but they can't beat good teams with any consistency. They have some soft schedule coming up, the Reds may start rolling up some wins.  Quote

Didn't get enough at bats to really get going. And I really hope he is a productive utility man for us. We needed to bring in someone like him to fill holes until guys come off the DL, and to replace Elliot Johnson. It was fun watching him run out his double/triple last night. Dude can fly!!!! 1 Quote
cbass12 Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 Where is he gonna play? I hope not SS that is one of my platooners, and escobar has been better of late. Â He'll play 3rd until Moose gets his calf healthy. After that he'll probably get pretty regular playing time giving someone a day off, either in the outfield or at 2nd or 3rd. He also gives us another speed option coming off the bench late in the games. Â As long as Escobar is healthy he will be in the lineup. I think he has only sat twice so far this year.......but don't quote me on that. 1 Quote
