Super User Gone_Phishin Posted July 7, 2013 Author Super User Posted July 7, 2013 Howard may be done for the year. Ashame he just raised his batting ave about 20 points the last month. looking good he was. Â I was really targeting him in this year's draft, but luckily so was a buddy. Â Yea, bummer for him...and definitely not good for Amaro. Quote
Super User flyfisher Posted July 7, 2013 Super User Posted July 7, 2013 Haven't heard anything more on Howard's health but he was just starting ot turn around, as he usually does in july. Â I almost wonder if him losing weight has led to his injuries. Â He was pretty much rock solid until he blew out his achilles which was after a long season and him getting into better shape. Â This might be a move just to get Ruff some time to see what he can do up in the big leagues. Â Amaro is hte reason this team stinks.....he has totally disregarded the offensive side of the game. Â Starting pitching is fine but when you can't score more than 3 runs a game you are screwed. Â I know some of the players are getting older and should be performing better but there was an opportunity with them needing a 3rd basemen and two outfielders and he blew it.Anyways.....the phillies will win this game today hopefully then probably the series against the nationals just so they can give me some hope and then lose 15 straight to crush my hopes back to where they belong... Super User MCS Posted July 7, 2013 Super User Posted July 7, 2013 Yeah I dunno what Amaro was thinking when he got Young. Shoulda kept Pence too. Quote
Super User flyfisher Posted July 7, 2013 Super User Posted July 7, 2013 Yeah Pence was an awesome fit in Philly and Revere is picking it up somewhat, just has no power or arm. Â Pence, Brown and Victorino would have been a pretty good outfield. Quote
Super User deaknh03 Posted July 8, 2013 Super User Posted July 8, 2013 Don't forget kruk and dykstra too although dykstra pretty much went nuts from all the roids I think Kruk was highly underrated too....career .300 hitter and traded his number to a rookie for a case of beer, can't beat that!!!! How can you not like a guy that had a nut removed? Plus when he hit against  randy Johnson at the all star game, classic stuff. 1 Quote
Super User deaknh03 Posted July 8, 2013 Super User Posted July 8, 2013 Espn power rankings: 1 Bosox 2 Bucs. What the hell have I missed this year? Quote

Lol the kids on the bucs will fade in the August heat and the O's will catch the bosox. Just wanted to let you know so you won't feel lost when the birds win the east. 1 Quote

Just because the coaches and dads weren't good enough and didn't win anything doesn't mean you have to make your kid into the next walter johnson all you do is turn him into the next sandy kofax or tommy john. Let them be kids and play. The other half of the problem is these dad that coach don't have a clue and teach improper mechanics. When they are in highschool is when they should be taught this stuff. and IMO it even shows in cases like the DR where kids play ball all day year round. they play waaaay too much and waaay too hard as youths and their bodies are deteriorated by the time they are grown and ready to play in the bigs. That is my 2 cents and I am sticking to it. 1 Quote

Ruf is looking pretty good so far...hope this doesn't jinx him....I grabbed him and put him on my fantasy roster til some guys get off the DL Quote
Super User flyfisher Posted July 14, 2013 Super User Posted July 14, 2013 Well he broke a few of Howard's minor league home run records so he can swing the bat. Â He will probably run into the same thing howard did though....no place to play. Â Quote
Super User MCS Posted July 14, 2013 Super User Posted July 14, 2013 Well Revere is down spots are opening up daily it seems....not good.....watch the Nats/Fish....FP just shoot me santangelo....nice game though something like 5 sacrifices and a sac fly good ole Senior Circuit baseball game! Too bad Rendon didn't play...,you here about that guy Lucas on the marlins 10 yrs and 3,700 abs in the minors before making it to the Bigs. I hope he sticks around for awhile, good luck to him Quote
Super User Gone_Phishin Posted July 17, 2013 Author Super User Posted July 17, 2013 I could use a guy at 3B as Middlebrooks has tanked the first half, and Todd Frazier has been a bit of a disappointment.  I offered a buddy a trade for Beltre, and he countered with Beltre+Gee for Masterson+Perkins. Thoughts?   Quote

Is there any 3B left on waviers, the guy on chicago cubs or Houstons Matt Dominguez are serviceable if you have a good Ofensvie base to begin with?  Gee is hard to gage, his k/bb rate isn't bad, he is allowing a .287 ba which is not good. He has had only 2 bad starts of late. But I think he is on the up swing.....Now I had materson early on in my roto league, I dropped him for arroyo right after he had his first string of three or four bad starts. I would be worried about him wearing down Look at mastersons splits in 2011 and 2012 he has his worst stats in July, Aug and Sept. And so far he has held true this July. If you want to play the odds I would say do it, and Gee might have a better second half than Materson will or at least similar stat wise. 1 Quote

If he insistant on starter for starter maybe see if he would take Tillman, he looks good on paper and while I am an O's fan, could emplode any day now.  Anytime, I love crunching the numbers Quote

Super User flyfisher Posted July 18, 2013 Super User Posted July 18, 2013 Does the draft even matter after the top 10? Quote
Super User flyfisher Posted July 18, 2013 Super User Posted July 18, 2013 And that whole competitive balance thing is dumb....the brewers were decent not to long ago and if I remember correctly don't they have one of the wealthiest owners on all of the game? I mean it is like all these restaurant shows where they fix a flailing place. You are rewarding those who suck.... All that being said just remember last year the phillies were 16 games under .500 at this point last season and ended at .500....there is still a chance they can overtake the braves who had an incredible start and have been playing .500 ball vet since. Quote
Super User MCS Posted July 18, 2013 Super User Posted July 18, 2013 Thing I think is funny is half these teams in the lowest revenue catagory are some of the more competitive teams, Rockies, Cards, O's, Brewers, Indians, Rays. All good teams who can't draw a crowd. I remember living in St Pete the rays win the East or wildcard and begging people to come to the playoffs. Quote
