Super User Gone_Phishin Posted March 25, 2013 Author Super User Posted March 25, 2013 Is it weird that I still lose sleep over the Reds blowing the NLDS five months later?  I wouldn't feel too bad, they look like they may win the Central this year.  On a Central-related note, the Crew signed Lohse. A bit too rich for me. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2013/03/brewers-to-sign-kyle-lohse.html 1 Quote
Super User MCS Posted March 26, 2013 Super User Posted March 26, 2013 Quick now everybody grab him. LOL well he is a FA in the public league......I did my other draft, interesting lineup I have about 5 wavier claims in and will post for your viewing pleasure/critique once they clear 3/27 1 Quote

The DS really exposed them last year, they just don't have the mental toughness it takes to win it all, when the pressure was on they flat out fell apart. Quote
Super User Gone_Phishin Posted March 26, 2013 Author Super User Posted March 26, 2013 Well my first injury of the year, Henley down before we even got started. My backup was the base thief on the pads can't recall his name shouldn't be too much of a hit. My head to head draft is Sunday. Any last minutes recommendations lol I pretty much know what I am gonna do.  Thumbs can really be bad. The first thing I thought about after hearing this was Bonifocio from last year.  What position did you have him slated at? Hope it heals up nice and fast because I think we would do well on a rebound this year in LAs lineup. And with Asdruble I am losing the power and RBI numbers.  Edit: I meant Everth Cabrera SS for the Pads Quote

38 Super Fan Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 One ESPN analyst is projecting the O's to win the East......Could be a rematch of the 1970 series. LOL I'd like that. The Reds may have improved their chances, they announced the other day that Chapman will stay the closer, that's where he belongs IMO. Quote
Super User MCS Posted March 27, 2013 Super User Posted March 27, 2013 I can't agree more with you, he is great as a closer. I saw people complaining though. I don't think chapman would last more than a season or two as starter. This will deffinately extend his career. Hope he wises up and embraces the choice. Quote
Super User flyfisher Posted March 27, 2013 Super User Posted March 27, 2013 I agree as well. Chapman is a beast and with his throwing style as a starter you are looking at tommy John surgery in a few years. Quote

Actually, before they announced the decision, Chapman said he wanted to stay as the closer. I'm not sure how much his opinion matters, but he apparently got his wish. Â People seem to forget that Chapman had some fatigue issues last year as the closer, I think expecting him to handle starting this year would have been pretty ambitious. For now, he has better value at closer anyway, the Reds have all the starters they need. Quote
Super User Gone_Phishin Posted March 27, 2013 Author Super User Posted March 27, 2013 We have our 12 man H-H draft Friday night. I am picking at the 12 spot, and have never drafted on the turn before; I have always been somewhere in the middle. Does anyone have any tips or suggestions?  Has anyone been watching V-Mart this Spring?  Apparently the Crew signed a lamp post yesterday: http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2013/03/brewers-sign-yuniesky-betancourt.html Quote
Super User MCS Posted March 27, 2013 Super User Posted March 27, 2013 Last I saw V Mart was having a mediocre spring, hitting 260 with a homer. On the swing around I would take the best pitcher available because after that you got a long way to go might not be a top 20 left.  Anyone got the scoop on who is starting at 3b for the stros? Domiguez? I picked him up, my auto pick draft screwed me on 3b I got seager but wanted a backup. Quote

Thanks. This is going to be tough for me, as I have such a hard time taking pitchers early. My mocks, so far, have went pretty well.   Yup, I think he is slated to start at 3B. Quote
Super User MCS Posted March 29, 2013 Super User Posted March 29, 2013 Johan is done for the year already. Kinda feel sad for the guy, wonder what number he could have put up over his career if he woulda been healty. This they say might be a career ender. Quote
Super User flyfisher Posted March 29, 2013 Super User Posted March 29, 2013 Yeah i saw that. I also heard people were speculating that going for that no-hitter and the high number of pitches potentially was the cause too. Quote
Super User MCS Posted March 29, 2013 Super User Posted March 29, 2013 It is a fine line, a no hitter is one game and to risk your career. But when your outta gas who is in charge of pulling the plug. The manager wants no part, the player wants it and will gut it out. Â Here is something that will make us all laugh... Super User MCS Posted March 31, 2013 Super User Posted March 31, 2013 Well the season starts tomorrow, predictions anyone? Â O's finish first or second in the east. And the Phillies vs the Reds for the NL championship. That is about all I wanna predict right now. Â But what is up with the reds and Isturis? He is playing short or 3b? Man that sucks hope you trade or call somebody up. lol Quote
38 Super Fan Posted March 31, 2013 Posted March 31, 2013 Cesar is the back up SS, Cozart is definately the man at SS, and Frazier is locked into 3B. I hope the Reds don't have to meet the Phillies BTW, that's definately the nightmare matchup. Quote
38 Super Fan Posted March 31, 2013 Posted March 31, 2013 I'd make some predictions, but I know nothing about baseball outside of the Reds. I think the Brewers could make a little noise, they quietly had a very strong second half last year, and I believe they were first in the NL in offense last year, I don't know if they'll reach the playoffs though. Super User MCS Posted April 2, 2013 Super User Posted April 2, 2013 Great games from most of my starters, Ceuto looked nice. But Hammels well man, what can I say he looked like doo-doo. 1 Quote

I don't understand the Rot. league scoring yet? LOL Quote
Super User flyfisher Posted April 3, 2013 Super User Posted April 3, 2013 Hamels got lit up early but settled down nicely. I blame it on him shaving the 'stache and it throwing off his weight balance Hopefully halladay does a little better but it sure was nice to see utley play well and get a triple and J-roll going first to third on a play he probably shouldn't have. 1 Quote
