Is their a wrong way to put on braided line on a bait caster?

I had braid put on my bait caster the other day. When I went out fishing today it keep backlashing. I set the brake and the tension knob to the bait i was using and it still back lashed about every other cast. I have other reels that I fish with braid and I have no problem casting.

Thanks for the input guys.

First time braid user?    If you've used the reel before and had no problems, it may be the line's fault.  Are you using at least 30lb. braid? If not, that is likely the problem. Braid is thinner than mono and will catch on itself on the spool because of the way it lays. Hopefully backing was used prior to spooling the braid.  If everything seems to be the way it should, try setting the tension knob so that you need to shake the rod tip a little to get your bait to drop.

Could be a spool tension and break thing going on. I use 10 and 20 lb braid on two bait casters and don't experience problems you describe.

Did you put backing or tape on the spool prior to spooling the braid?

Yeah they put backing on the reel when they put the braid on. I think papajoe2222 is right I think the diameter of the braid is to small and it was digging in on itself.

The braid I used was power pro 20 lb. the reel was a shammano and I was throwing a spinnerbait.

Yeah like I said I have other bait casters that have the same braid and no problems. I just thought it was weird that it kept happening over and over again

Thanks for the comments guys. All info is good info.

What are the specs on your setup with the 10lb braid on a baitcasting rig? That's a super thin line for a bc.....somewhere around 2lb mono.

On a 7.1:1 Quantum Accurist, 6' M power rod. Always tie on a leader, fwiw.

Caught my 7.5lb PB on it last year.

This one happens to be spooled with 10lb Fireline, so 4lb diameter. But still thin...

My Lexa is spooled with 20 lb Power Pro.

Yeah, fireline is thick for what they say in the specs but that's still thin any way you cut it when you compare it to mono...their 20lb fused line in kinda stiff and more like 30lb braid in some ways. Maybe I've just been closed minded though. I can imagine 20lb power pro on a bc reel but 10lb power pro on say that same lexa? How does that run? I have never tried that myself so I don't have any first hand knowledge of it. Unrelated but I kind of like those lexas and I might buy one at some point.

One wrong way I can think of is not getting the line on tight enough.

Ive used 10# PP on a Pinnacle bc for 10 years from senkos to frogs & 3/4 spoons. 15# PPS8S on Carbonlite and 50E reels. 20# PP and Performance braid with ABU C4. 15# Kanzen is going on my 50mg7. If I had any issues at all I wouldnt continue to buy/use the lighter braid. Backing or no backing get the line/backing on tight. Once spooled squeeze the line any give or squish re-spool get it on tighter should feel solid.

Just the act of casting retrieving shouldnt cause digging with 20#, a force of like pulling very hard to free snag is what could cause digging.

Oh one braid I tried Stren Super Braid had an over amount of coating and actually was sticking to itself a bit and gum-up/coat the line guide. I sprayed it with Reel-magic and that helped quite well.

How much line is on the reel? There should be around 1/32-1/16 of an inch down from the beveled edge of the spool sides.

Have you free spooled all the way down and removed every tangle out of your line (like all the way down in there?) It's possible that there are still knots in the line beneath what looks like a clear spool. I would try re-spooling the line if you don't figure this out using the suggestions above.
