lazeebum Posted March 3, 2013 Posted March 3, 2013 I bought and installed a Lowrance Mark 4 depth finder and chart plotter on my boat. All the reviews with the exception of one were favorable. Does anyone else have advice about my new toy. I do realize that it is obsolete, but it was not too expensive, and I have had good experience with Lowrance products in the past. Quote
Todd Driscoll Posted March 4, 2013 Posted March 4, 2013 The Mark 4 is a good unit at its price point. Here are some sonar settings to get you started. First, put the unit in Advanced Mode. Select the Shallow Water (< 60 feet) fishing mode. Keep unit in Auto Sens. and Auto Depth, and run it in 200 kHz. Set Ping Speed at Fastest. I prefer the color white w/ bottom track. Quote
lazeebum Posted March 4, 2013 Author Posted March 4, 2013 Thanks, I will do that. I plan on trying it out tomorrow afternoon. Quote
Todd Driscoll Posted March 4, 2013 Posted March 4, 2013 Ignore my comment about sonar color palette. I was thinking Elite series units when responding and forgot you had the monochrome Mark unit. Quote
lazeebum Posted March 5, 2013 Author Posted March 5, 2013 I love it! For two hundred bucks you can't beat it. The GPS seems to work good. I know it is obsolete, but it is way more advanced than what I was using. The map seems fairly well detailed for an entry level product. Thanks for your input Todd. Quote
