Other Applications For A Crankbait Rod

I have a 6'9" M-M Carrot Stix Crankin' rod that I bought a couple years ago when I was on a crankbait craze. I haven't been fishing cranks very much lately and find that I hardly ever use it. Are there any other uses other than treble hook baits that this could work for? Does anybody use their regular crank rods for squarebills in cover or do you have to have a rod with more power?

That action and power would make a great top water PopR rod and a great rod for walking the dog type lures. Smaller ones though.

Might make a good jerk bait rod as well.

Use it for just about anything with treble hooks.

I would try it out as a "skippin rod" ive found that mod action mediums have good "whip" to the them. I like rods like that for skipping docks. I use a 6'6'med fast, but when fish are under the docks and thats all im doing, ill use my Powell 695cb as an alternate/backup rod. It has a mod action. It loads up well and has the kind of bend that i like when im skippin under docks...

It would also work well for rattle traps or flutter spoons.

I've had that rod. It's a great jerkbait and popper rod.

Inline spinners. I know a lot of people don't use them much but I do. I've gotten to where I am throwing 1/4 and 3/8 oz Roostertails and they really go for the big ride on casting gear. Way over 100 feet with ease. Being a treble hook lure, this rod would work and you can also use them as search baits to cover water fast, shallow and deep. Just keep one tied on and ready, make a few quick passes by different stumps or in other areas that might hold fish, and then if you get hit you can start picking the cover apart with slower baits.

My shallowing cranking rod, a 6'10"MH-F Carrot Stix Gold, is used for squarebills, shallow and medium divers, jerkbaits, topwater, small paddle tail swimbaits, and sometimes buzzbaits.
