Very nice ride.  Way too much skinny water around here for that type boat though.  Would be very nice on some of our larger lakes though for sure.  Hope it serves you well for many years to come!

Maybe I can convince you and Dwight to take me fo a tour of Erie one of these days.

You see the snow in the pics :badlanguage:  We have some cooling lakes that have opened for the season. I'm thinking of heading out sometime this week to drive around in circles for the break in period.

Nice congrats! If you get to go with A-jay and Dwight to Erie don't forget to stop and pick me up!!

Nice rig.  The top of the aluminum world for sure.

A word on the Opti.  When you start it up let it warm to 120° before taking off.  Hard take offs with cold heads are Opti nightmares.  I always check my smart craft gauge and watch the temp before heading out from the launch.  That has given me 10 trouble free years with my duce and a quarter Opti.

I wanna talk to you about break in periods on motors. Take this for what its worth, you decide the route you wanna go.

There are two schools of thought

1: Baby it for the break in period per the manufactures instructions.

2: Mototune break in: I did this with my last brand new motor. I did this on my 2007 honda cbr600rr. The theory behind this is that a new motor has crosshatching in the bore from manufacturing. There is only so much time that it has to seat the rings. You basically drive it like you want to from day one. Open it wide up and run really high rpms. Like I said, I did this on my last high performance motor. At 1000 miles I changed over to full synthetic because break in was over. The bike went in for a 15000 mile valve adjustment. Keep in mind this motor ran upwards of 14000 rpms daily. While the valves were severely out and required a lot of adjustment the honda techs commented that "This is the cleanest motor we have ever seen in our shop". Now, I didnt neglect it, even though I ran amsoil I changed it every 3000 miles, well below the recommended 10,000 miles from blackstone labs.

Anyhow, I wanted to throw that out to you. Here is the website http://www.mototuneusa.com/break_in_secrets.htm

Only you can decide if you want to go that route, I know I personally will always go that route after the results I had.

Beautiful boat, I must say I like it better in your pics than the video. I also like how those seats all fold down to walk on.

The Merc manual is specific in saying they can void warranty if break in is not followed properly. 1st hour run 4000-5400rpms changing speed every 2 minutes and the next 3 hours at same rpms changing speed every 10 minutes.

The break-in procedures although necessary do seem a little arduous at best.

The fuel used to complete it is nothing to sneeze at either.

I think a good way to encourage the consumer to complete the break-in properly, as well as being a nice promotional selling point, would be to include a gas card with sufficient funds to pay for the breaking-in as part of the Dealer Prep package.

Theres not a big motor manufacturer on this planet that writes anything in their manual other than their baby it method, thats why the mototune is controversal. Its your choice, you are the owner, I just wanted to inform you of the flip side of the coin that manufacturers dont tell you about. It worked for me and I personally will continue to do it, if you dont want to, thats ok with me. However at least look at the site and read through the results before you decide for good.

Arduous is right. I am currently in the break-in period on a 60hp 4 stroke Mercury and the whole time I'm on the lake I'm alternating rpms.
