Maybe you heard, maybe you didn't, but a man outside Tampa, Florida went missing this morning.  The thing is, everyone kinda knows where he is, but they can't get to him.  See, the guy was sleeping in his bedroom when A GINAT SINKHOLE OPENED UNDER HIS BEDROOM and swallowed him up.

Seriously.

The sinkhole, estimated to be 30 feet across at the surface and 100 FEET ACROSS below the surface, opened under his bedroom while he slept... and that was it.

Gone.

A lot of people go to bed stressed about what they have to face the following day, or still deep in thought about what happened earlier, but most of us don't worry too much about what's gonna happen to us WHILE we sleep.  We lock our doors, turn off the lights and take solace in the idea that the earth won't eat us...and for some of us, that is the wrong assumption.

Every- so- often, something weird happens to us or around us while we sleep and all we can do is try to make sense of it when we wake up.

That brings us to today's topic:  I'LL NEVER FORGET THE TIME I WOKE UP TO ___________.

I'LL NEVER FORGET THE TIME I WOKE UP TO ___________.

My youth group kidnapping me on my birthday back in the 80s... Was only asleep wearing skivvies and covered in a sheet. And they snuck in my room, awoke me and took me to breakfast. With my parents' permission. Rather embarrassing.

Or the time I woke up to my dog staring me in the face. Those are the worst.

Now as to what I've done to others? Heh heh heh....

Horrific situation down in FL, though. Feel awful for the family.

This happens to me a lot.  My dog climbs in the bed while Im sleeping, I wake up and my dogs face is about 2 inches from mine.  But sometimes though, its his butt instead of his face.

A couple years ago we had a small earthquake.  I woke up cuz my bed was skaking.  I yelled at my dog cuz I thought he was pushed up against the bed and scratching himself or something but then I relized the house was skaking too.  Only lasted a minute or two.  It was actually kinda neat to expierience.  Im sure I wouldn't feel that way though if it was one of the larger quakes that actually cause damage.

Funny you should mention the earthquake. Might've been the same one centered in VA?? I was dozing in a rocking chair when I awoke and the house was moving. Weirdest experience ever. Ever.

'Spose that could've been my "I'll never for get the time I woke up to __________" moment.

It probably was.  I think it was sometime in the summer of 2010.

IIll never forget the time, i woke up to my cell phone ringing. It was my Dad. His voice cracked and he told me my brother had passed away. My world suddenly stopped. Everything I knew and counted out now seemed fake. Nothing seemed real anymore. I begged my wife to please tell me that it was a dream or a nightmare for that matter. She couldnt. The worst night of my life.

Jason W. Teal 1980-2012 R.I.P, brother i love you.

Life is short guys, call your folks and tell em how you feel. Do it often.

At least he doesn't sleep on your face like my worthless cat does. Well, maybe he's not worthless, he keeps my face warm!

He also likes to sit on the night stand and stare at us. Creeps me out when I wake up and this 20lb cat is just staring at me with some twisted serial killer look on his face. . .

The one moment that scared me the most was when the girlfriend woke me up and said she heard someone breaking into the house. I grab my S&W and flashlight from the night stand and head down the hall while she loads up the shotgun. Once I determine no one is in the house I check the windows to make sure they are locked and check the front and back door. That's when I realize the "intruder" was the wind blowing the screen door open because it didn't latch.

This happens to me every morning.

I wake up right next to the best person I know.

And I will never take it for granted.
