Super User MCS Posted March 3, 2013 Super User Posted March 3, 2013 Brady's pay cut isn't much really but since it is the beloved patriots that's all you hear. It is more of a restructuring and has more guaranteed money. Yeah that it right there, looks like a pay cut for Brady but I believe 100% guaranteed in the new deal. He will pocket more than the old deal in the long run. 1 Quote
38 Super Fan Posted March 3, 2013 Posted March 3, 2013 I can't think of any person that deserves to be the highest paid player in the NFL other than the superbowl mvp, plain and simple. So I guess guys like Santonio Holmes, Deion Branch, Hines Ward and Dexter Jackson all got pretty raw deals then huh? Quote
Super User MCS Posted March 3, 2013 Super User Posted March 3, 2013 We all know the REAL MVP was jacoby jones, run back a kick, catch an under thrown ball from the NFL's highest paid player fall down get up and score....just say'n lol 1 Quote
TheKingFisher Posted March 3, 2013 Posted March 3, 2013 So I guess guys like Santonio Holmes, Deion Branch, Hines Ward and Dexter Jackson all got pretty raw deals then huh? I'm not saying it's the only criteria for being the highest paid athlete, but in my book it's irrefutable proof that should work in ones favor if that person is. Quote
38 Super Fan Posted March 3, 2013 Posted March 3, 2013 SB MVP aside, I've just never viewed Flacco as the guy who carries that offense, to me that's always been Ray Rice. Quote
TheKingFisher Posted March 3, 2013 Posted March 3, 2013 I agree with you on that. I should probably mention I'm not a Ravens fan. I live in Redskin territory and try to support the local team. Although that's been hard until this past season and then in typical Redskins fashion they had to go and ruin that. It's funny though because I definitely saw an increase in Ravens gear around here during the playoffs and right around the superbowl it must've quadrupled! I told my wife I bet all these guys with the Ravens flags on their cars had Redskins ones in the glove box. Absolutely disgusting. 1 Quote
38 Super Fan Posted March 3, 2013 Posted March 3, 2013 Gotta love those fair weather fans, I'm sure many have already traded in their NY Giants gear for that awesome purple Ravens gear. BTW, I'm no Ravens fan either, lifelong Bengals fan actually, so I know all about suffering too. 1 Quote
Super User Teal Posted March 3, 2013 Author Super User Posted March 3, 2013 Yeah, we do actually have alot of MD transplants down in NC but never noticed alot of them till the first Sunday in February of this year. Quote

It's kinda pathetic. Quote

craww Posted March 3, 2013 Posted March 3, 2013 Flacco had perfect timing, and the ravens made the right move for them given their options. The cap will go up again in 2 years, and this deal wont hurt so much. No, he's not better than about half a dozen QBs in the league. But Baltimore CAN win with him, and won't have to worry about a QB for a long time. Ozzie Newsome is the best GM in football, they'll fill their holes and be fine. 1 Quote

I agree with you about Joe but the thing you brought up about the GM is totally right. Ozzie is great I cannot deny that. He has really found some hidden gems in the draft. Very happy with how he scouts and runs his business. Quote
fadetoblack21 Posted March 4, 2013 Posted March 4, 2013 I agree and understand your point. But I don't think comparing pro salaries which are already ridiculous compared to most peoples makes sense when there's so many variables involved. Very seldom is it apples to apples. Actually what I should have said is I don't think it makes sense for me to do. But more importantly, I think guys get paid what they are worth at the time they are worth it and that's always a relative thing from team to team, year to year. Because player contracts start and finish at different times, you'll always have what looks like some player making too much or too little money for the caliber of athlete they are. At this time it makes perfect sense for the Ravens franchise to make Flacco the highest paid player in the NFL. Your right, it does make sense for the Ravens to give Flacco his payday, but I have a hard time understanding making him the highest payed player. Flacco played his part well, and is getting payed for it. I guess my problem is the fact that I don't view him as the leader or best player of that team. While he is an excellent QB, is he really deserving of such a high salary? The people who sign his checks seems to think so, and that's all that matters. I hope the decision doesn't come back to haunt the Ravens though. Quote
Super User MCS Posted March 12, 2013 Super User Posted March 12, 2013 http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/baltimore-ravens-trade-anquan-boldin-to-san-francisco-49ers-for-draft-pick-031113 First victim of the Flacco deal.....Boldin was getting old but another year or two with the team to mentor the young WRs. Don't think Smith is exactly ready to be a No. 1 while he can have some great games, he tends to get lost in games also, his short route and traffic skills are not even in the same league as Boldin at this point in his career. Am excited if he is indeed No. 1 to see tons of long bombs down field. Pull the safties back let Ray run and Ed and Dennis be open in the middle. hmmmm maybe not so bad, especially if the cap room lets us keep Ellerbe and/or Kruger. Quote
Super User BrianinMD Posted March 12, 2013 Super User Posted March 12, 2013 Reports are saying that Ed Reed will also sign with the 49er's, hope Joe likes his money because it may cost the Ravens other vital parts of the team. 1 Quote

SF is getting pretty stacked over there, kinda would be funny if these guys won with the Ravens then get cut by them and go to the 49ers and win a ring this up coming season too. LOL I personally wouldn't mind seeing Ed get another or seeing Vernon Davis win one. Quote

Super User MCS Posted March 13, 2013 Super User Posted March 13, 2013 Well Ravens lose Ellerbe(miami) and Kruger(browns)....Thing I am most upset about is they released Pollard. So there will basically no point to watch the games next season, I don't even know their defense anymore. I loved watch Pollard level people, who ever gets him is getting an awesome strong safety. Kinda disappointing, they aren't even atempting to give the superbowl a go this year. Man **** Joe Flacco, he is a good dude and decent qb but d**n son you ruined the team. Ray Lewis is officially an ESPN analyst. Now I like Ray on the field, intesity, leadership, play was great on the field but I don't think I wanna listen to his mouth before, after or during a game. 1 Quote
Super User MCS Posted March 25, 2013 Super User Posted March 25, 2013 Even though Reed is gone...Pollard too. The new acquisions are starting to make the defense interesting agiain. Two DE allowing Ngata to play NT and crush the small centers and now this http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nfl-shutdown-corner/baltimore-ravens-agree-terms-elvis-dumervil-205838180--nfl.html with the draft and the corner backs we retained I think the Def will be ok now, maybe better against the run than last year. Now the real question is can Mr. Joe live up to that new contract and make Ozzie legendary. LOL Quote

craww Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 Man, dumervil and Suggs coming off the edge with Ngata collapsing the middle of the pocket? Yeah that D's gonna be ok if they stay healthy. 1 Quote
Super User MCS Posted March 27, 2013 Super User Posted March 27, 2013 Huff signs a 3 yr deal Def Keeps getting better and better I am optimistic now and super excited to watch this defense put a hurting on the steelers and bungles lol http://touch.baltimoresun.com/#section/832/article/p2p-75067115/ Quote
Super User Teal Posted March 27, 2013 Author Super User Posted March 27, 2013 Thats a good signing. I was hoping the Panthers would move on him but we dont have alot of cap space to do much. Hes still a solid player and will help yall alot. Quote

Reed sucked at run stopping. Quote
