Diggy Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 If you look on the bay, you can find some around 50 dollars. I used my friends when we went snakehead fishing and it was pretty decent but if you are going to pay the full 80, you might as well pay 100 and get something that may last longer and is aluminum frame. 1 Quote
Super User Felix77 Posted March 1, 2013 Super User Posted March 1, 2013 I'm a huge fan of the Max line. Own the Pro and 3 Silvers. I use mine for flipping, pitching, frogs, bigger jigs etc. I have it paired up with a 7' mh rod and 20lb fluoro. Be careful with eBay. You will find the old model pro. You need to make sure it's the Pro Max 2. Quote
BenBassmaster Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 I have both the Pro Max and Silver, I love them both. I use the Pro Max for Buzzbaits, Jigs, Frogs. It's super smooth and the drag is amazing. It will also cast a mile ,and the free spool is rediculous. 1 Quote
29JMP29 Posted March 2, 2013 Posted March 2, 2013 I had the left hand model and I used it for swim jigs for a while. It was pretty good, but if you can pay the extra 20 bucks, I would try the lews speed spool. I had problems with the casting bar only going down half way so whenever I would try to cast, the line would not come out but that barely happened, just make sure to completely press down on it when you are casting. its pretty smooth too Quote
tugsandpulls Posted March 2, 2013 Posted March 2, 2013 i have the silver and black max im buying the pro next Quote
Super User Gatorbassman Posted March 3, 2013 Super User Posted March 3, 2013 I have two and I love them. They are amazing reels at that price. Quote
The Rooster Posted March 3, 2013 Posted March 3, 2013 To each their own. I wouldn't look sideways at it just because it doesn't have an aluminum frame. At its price point you're only $20 away from reels that have aluminum frames. Right now, the BPS Pro Qualifier is on sale for $80. That's the same price and it also has an aluminum frame, not to mention better braking. Quote
bass1980 Posted March 3, 2013 Posted March 3, 2013 I have a promax combo. My first BC ever. Still cast and catches fish great. I would sell it for dirt cheap if you were local. Don't want to ship rods. 1 Quote
