The season is upon us. Pickwick is on fire and

the weapons of choice are lipless cranks, jerkbaits

and buzzbaits. This weekend I plan to focus on

the Rage Tail Smokin' Rooster!

When "anything works" it's a great time to try lures

you haven't mastered. Confidence is hard to come

by and now is the time to step up and do a little

experimentation...If you already own it, why not

fish it?

great advice.  I have never fished a 10 inch worm until yesterday.  I never had confidence that something that big would catch anything on the waters I fish, and yesterday i caught a really nice bass with one.  The fishing is good right now, everybody should try something new and see what happens, you never know if that new lure will be your new confidence bait until you give it a whirl.

Nice post, and I'm with you. I just started using lipless cranks. I landed one dink of the crank at this small pond and manage to also hook a salamander some how. That pond was filled with those.

I also got me my first pack of smokin rooster. I can't yet to try out. How is the rage hawg?

Rage Hawg is good. I have been rigging it like any other creature bait.

Thanks I'm going to have to get me a pack and give them a try.

I like the Rooster a lot.  Been pitching it around here quite a bit.  While we are by no means on fire, it's starting to heat up.

Tossed an * last weekend with some very good success.

I've always been a fan of DT hula grubs, but the * is a much bulkier variation of the theme.   Great action, and the fish dig it.

Great advice, roadwarrior.  Perfect time to learn that jig.

Hey RW, If the Smokin Rooster loses his Tail....don't throw him away  :;) Just remove it completely, this style was recently named SMOKIN' HEN by one of our TEAMRAGETAIL Members....makes a short profile bait with wild action. I use a q-tip and tip the flange points on side wings when it's a Hen....Fish are crazy about it and rarely miss on hook up's  ;)
