oteymc Posted April 12, 2010 Posted April 12, 2010 I saw some on the shelf at Wal-Mart, and wondered how long it has been there. Does this stuff go bad? Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted April 12, 2010 Super User Posted April 12, 2010 I would guess it lasts indefinitely, but if you are looking for suggestions: MegaStrike and JJ's Magic are favorites around here. 8-) Quote
oteymc Posted April 12, 2010 Author Posted April 12, 2010 I had planned on trying one of those the next time I made a purchase from TW. This was on clearance at about half price, I'm sure left over from last year. Quote
RobE Posted April 12, 2010 Posted April 12, 2010 I think most attractants are like alchohol and only get better (or more potent) as they age. Now, if we were talking Doe Urine, that would be differant. You sure don't want to smell that after it has spent a summer in your glovebox. Voice of experience! :-[ Quote
Super User Hammer 4 Posted April 12, 2010 Super User Posted April 12, 2010 Have no idea on how long it would last..But I do agree with RW.. I would guess it lasts indefinitely, but if you arelooking for suggestions: MegaStrike and JJ's Magic are favorites around here. 8-) Quote
Bobby Uhrig Posted April 13, 2010 Posted April 13, 2010 It was done before it went on the shelf LOL Quote
Dixon Posted April 13, 2010 Posted April 13, 2010 Bobby has jokes. lol. I actually work for an aerosol company that makes one of the attractants on the market. 2 to 3 years is the shelf life of an aerosol attractant. Quote
Super User Gone_Phishin Posted April 13, 2010 Super User Posted April 13, 2010 My brother has the large squirt/spray style bottle of Bang shad scent, and it eventually went 'bad.' It simply lost its potency and really thinned out. Quote
Dixon Posted April 13, 2010 Posted April 13, 2010 A squirt bottle will eventually go bad. The chemicals will sometimes seperate. Stick with aerosols or tubes or dyes. Quote
oteymc Posted April 13, 2010 Author Posted April 13, 2010 Thanks for all the info. Not sure if this stuff would work, but thought it might at least cover any bad scents that I might transfer like sunscreen, etc. I still want to try your product Bobby! Quote
SwimbaitDave Posted April 13, 2010 Posted April 13, 2010 I was cleaning out my shed the other day and found a bottle of Baitmate panfish attractant from the mid 90's in my first tackle box. It does not look too bad and still smells, so I wonder. Perhaps I will try it next trip down to the Crappie hole. Quote
Super User Gone_Phishin Posted April 14, 2010 Super User Posted April 14, 2010 A good way to use old scent, rather than tossing it, is mixing it in a batch of dough balls for cats. Quote
