I like lightweight rods, but i can appreciate a well built balanced rod alot more. I loved my dobyns champion, that thing balanced so well...

I have a Dobyns Champion 6'8" mh with a Lews Tournament Speed Spool. Nice rig.

I find the new GLX's to be extremely tip heavy. Although Loomis has done a good job updating this rod, I really didn't like the fore grip on it and it probably would have balanced better without it. I almost regret selling my previous model GLX's, good thing my Dobyns keep me happy :)

when do they anticipate the increase?

March. Retailers expect the next shipments to arrive with $50-$75 price increases for both NRX and GLX.

At what point do they price themselves right out of the market.

They already did as far as I am concerned. A friend has 9 NRX's and can't afford 1, lots of folks are brand and model fanatics and as long as they keep paying the price will keep going up!

Wow, with the prices going up they are really gonna be up there compared to other non-custom rods. Those NRX rods are going to literally 50% more expensive than a St. Croix Legend Xtreme and over 60% more than a Dobyns Champion Extreme. Now, some may argue that the NRX is better in this way or that way but those other 2 rods I mentioned are no slouches and compete for a lot of the same business that Gloomis does. I like the NRX but I don't know if I'd be willing to shell out $600 after taxes for one.

California the NRX and new 2013 model GLX price is $525 and $425, my local tackle shop who keeps between 25 to 30 in stock is my source.
