Rangerphil Posted February 28, 2013 Posted February 28, 2013 Do you all think this would be a good line choice for jerkbaits in cold water? Or should I stick with mono? This is for suspending jerkbaits. Just worried it may not suspend with it. Thanks! Quote
kylek Posted February 28, 2013 Posted February 28, 2013 I got to try it out 2 weeks ago and it seemed to work pretty well. Didn't get to fish too long as the trolling motor crapped out on us. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted February 28, 2013 Super User Posted February 28, 2013 I'm a Yo-Zuri fan, but I fish Sunline SuperNatural monofilament on my jerkbait rig. 2 Quote

Thank you RW I was hoping to hear from you on this! I thought mono was the ticket just was not 100% sure! Quote
WhiteMike1018 Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 Ive caught a lot of fish with it on jerkbaits. Just make sure you feel the wight of the fish before setting your hook so you dont rip it out of his mouth Quote
skeletor6 Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 I'm a Yo-Zuri fan, but I fish Sunline SuperNatural monofilament on my jerkbait rig. All of the pros at Bass University recommended mono for jerkbaits. X2! And RW knows his Yo-Zuri. I also tried fishing jerkbaits and other floating baits when I first got yo-zuri (12lb). Since the line sinks (somewhat) it impedes on the natural action of the bait from my experience. Quote

And I change lines on my reels a lot....just because I'm one of those guys that likes to try different lines. I find Yozuri great for pitching and spinnerbait fishing. But the Sunline Super Natural works much better on my Pointers and Visions. I have Skeletor's experience in that the Yozuri somehow impedes the action, while Super Natural enhances it. I know I can feel the fish better with the Super Natural. Both have their uses. I wouldn't tend to use either one for "finesse fishing" however. They are both good "medium value" lines......not premium. Quote
upnorthbassin Posted March 2, 2013 Posted March 2, 2013 What lb test super natural are you guys running? I use a decent amount of 12lb hybrid but the breaking strength is way up there on it. I wouldn't guess the super natural is anywhere close but handles a bit easier. Quote
Super User kickerfish1 Posted March 2, 2013 Super User Posted March 2, 2013 Put me down for another vote for mono for jerkbaits fishing. Floro would be a secondary choice. Fishing alot of LC pointer 78 and 100 series baits, vision 110s, rogues, and a few other brands and have been working them on 10 Trilene XL mono. Casting distance and bait movement/action was stellar. Any good 100% mono line would suffice, I just happened to get a good deal on a few of the Trilene XL spools (previous red box packaging), so that is what I am using at the moment. Plus this is a line that has been around for a while and has a pretty good track record. Quote
