H00kedOnBass Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 So last night i did some searching on google earth and found a real nice looking spot close to my house. Its behind the Mercedes dealer on 441 and sample. Within the first 3 casts i catch a decent one on a 7" purple worm. 30 minutes in and ive caught around 7 in the 1.5lb range and down. I decide to go for bigger bites and switch to a smoke colored paddle tail fluke. And as i hoped for, I catch two real nice ones on the first 2 casts! From there almost every other cast had atleast a bite. In a span of about 3 hours i caught over 20 fish, lost count after about 15. I was dipping everything in some garlic, they seemed to just not wanna let go. I even saw some peacock bass but all were pretty small. I lost 2 really good ones that were easily in the 4lb range, one spit the hook right at the shore line and the other snapped my swivel in half! The best of the day was a hair under 2.5lb. Enjoy the pictures! 2 Quote

Yea i use the swivels so its quicker/easier for me to change lures and not have to untie and tie again. I only have one rod and fish by foot so carrying multiple rods doesn't work for me. But ill admit after that one broke i changed it to a slightly bigger one Quote

From your description it sounds like you are putting a snap swivel at the end of your line to connect your lure. Nothing wrong with that but IMO there are better options. Whether you use a leader or not, a duolock type snap to connect your lures is a good fast way to change them, I've never had one break or open. If there is a negative it might be using one with a top water lure with a concave face, a split ring on the lure takes care of that problem. Quote
aceofspades Posted February 28, 2013 Posted February 28, 2013 I've had some good success out of that pond before. Haven't been there in a few months. Didn't notice any peacocks. That's great news! Quote

That's great news! Yea it's a great pond with plenty of vegetation. If u look on google earth you can see to the north of it theres a nice pond behind homedepot connecting to it. I fished it on the same day but it started pouring, only caught one off a worm. Quote

aceofspades Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 I've seen that pond on google earth behind home depot, but didn't know how to get to it. It looked like there were thick trees all around it. Also, I've fished those small ponds just south of there near the casino. Didn't have much luck. A few small bass and a large Mayan Cichlid. Quote
