racerx26 Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 Do you really need a braid ready spool to use braided line? Quote
kylek Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 Nope. Most people put a few yards of mono on it before putting the braid on. It keeps it from spinning on the spool. 1 Quote
Super User J Francho Posted February 27, 2013 Super User Posted February 27, 2013 Or tape. Or tie it to the holes if it's drilled. 1 Quote
Super User Teal Posted February 27, 2013 Super User Posted February 27, 2013 No. You can make it braid ready. This is done by spooling on some mono line first (backing) and then connecting thr braid to the mono. Or you can place tape around the arbor and then spool on the braid. Or if you have a spool with the wiffle holes can run the braid through the holes when you tie to the spool to keep it from sliippin. I prefer option 1. It saves line. But to answer your question, there are some spinning reels and a even fewer baitcast reels on the market tha advertise a braid ready spool. Braid ready orr not, im using backking. Quote

racerx26 Posted February 27, 2013 Author Posted February 27, 2013 Alright thanks. no experience with braid and thinking about spooling up with it on my new president that I got coming Quote
BrettD Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 I fill about half tha spool with mono backing that is about the same size as the braid Im using then fill the 2nd half of the spool with braid. Doing this I usually get 2 reels filled with a 150yrd spool. Quote
