Well....where do I begin?? Yesterday I took my new ranger out to make sure everything was in line for the tourney. Went to start my truck, it was dead, no biggie, jumped it and headed for lacygne. Put the boat in and it fired right up. Idled out through the river and when I gave it gas it would just fall on its face, obviously a new high pressure fuel pump did not fix it. I then got all sorts of loud beeping so immediately shut it down and trolled all the way back to the boat ramp. Bent the shaft of my trolling motor trying to get it back on the trailer. On my way home I blew a tire on the trailer. I really hope my luck changes, bc I am out of patience.

Wow that sounds like you had almost as much fun as I did last time I was at La Cygne. That lake can make a guy think about quiting and taking up golf.

Thanks guys. I'm pretty sure it's fuel related, but am hoping its not the low pressure pump bc that's going to be another $500. You can power it up in neutral and it runs fine without any hesitation at high rpm, but as soon as you try to put it under any load in gear it cuts in and out. I will definitely check out those forums.

The alarm sounds a lot like what mine did at Table Rock when kanasbassfisher and I were there a couple years ago. As soon as I'd try to power up it would overheat and the alarm would go off. It turned out to be the thermostat was stuck because of some sand my motor had sucked up on the river. Replaced the thermostat (about $20) and cleaned out the little bit of sand I could still see and it was good as new.

You took your new Ranger out and it runs like ass?  I would be having the dealer pick it up at my house and get it fixed or am I missing something here?[/quote

I will be there

Are you planning on bringing a boat or are you a non boater?

Thinking I might be able to make this after all...

What time and ramp are we using?  Anyone looking for a boater or non?

We have one for sure non boater that still needs a boater. Just let me know for sure. We're going off the East ramp in the state park, the one on the north closest to the dam at 6am or safe light until 2pm.

I was thinking about hitting Melvern up Saturday afternoon/evening, let me know if there's any food items that still need to be brought.

Salenity and I fished Melvern today. Could have pretty much just brought a jerkbait rod and left the rest at home. Caught a bunch of fish but other than 1 on a Ned, 1 on a crank, 1 on a keitech, and 3 on a shakyhead all the rest were on jerks. Location wasn't really important, pick a rock bank with at least 6' of water and start casting and you'd run into one eventually. The dam was loaded with white bass, both caught smallmouth and largemouth and Curt got a spot too. Mainly fished the north side of the lake but I'm sure we could have done the same thing on the south side of the lake we did on the north. Only fished about 1/3 of the dam before the wind got bad and we left those fish biting and we couldn't fish much other than a jerkbait with the wind blowing like it was. Had several in the 16-17 inch range and super fat and pulling like crazy. White jerkbaits seemed to be the better color.
